Hey,

I went for a chiropractic session 5 days ago because I was feeling a little tense in my upper and middle back (nothing serious) and he did some adjustments on my back and also my neck. I felt fine at that moment but when I got home I read online some good and bad stuff regarding the side effects of chiropractic and I got worried because I'm an anxious person in general.

Do the side effects (especially serious ones, e.g. possibility of stroke) appear immediately after the session or it might take up to few weeks to appear? Also what are the chances of having those side effects after only 1 session?

Thanks

Hi tim9 and welcome!

I think you can rest assured that all is well. I would think that if you were having any ill effects (remember this is rare to begin with) that you would have been made aware of them right away.

Try not to look up things online, as those of us prone to anxiety become very influenced by the power of suggestion...and are triggered by that sort of content.

Instead, if you have a concern that lingers...call your doctor and set up a consultation to answer your questions.:)

For now, please see the top of the forum page here (Anxiety Resources) for great coping skill material that can help lower your overall anxiety if practiced regularly.

Hi Tim9, I usually post & hang out in the chronic pain forum but do read in many of the forums here at Healing Well. I do not know if the chiropractor told you or not but any time you have care done like that you should always drinks lots of water afterwards. And, as SC said its very much normal to feel a little worse for a few days/ The same holds true with having a massage. The very first time I had a massage I did not drink water & I felt like I had the flu for several days. The water helps flush toxins from your system. Hope this helps. Take care.
