So I've had non stop anxiety all weekend. Idk it's the hurricane or the stress of a work trip. The hurricane isn't bad and my trip was cancelled. So I have no reason to feel this way. I've taken 2 .25 xanax and they barely take the edge off. Do you think it could be the 0.5 mg of fluoxetine? I've been on it for almost 2 weeks. Tired of feeling like this..

Most definitely the anxiety is high from the startup. When i first started lexapro I had to use xanax as a crutch till the meds leveled out. All i can say from experience is to hang in there and tomorrow is another day that youre closer to victory. Let me know if you want to chat or need to talk im/we're here for you.

Ugh! It's awful, even from 0.5 of liquid? This is my first day with anxiety all day long. It's awful! I even cried earlier because it's so overwhelming.

i think that no matter the dosage its going to take your mind getting use to the dose. Right now im in a week back on my lexapro brand name and im extremely anxious. Throat feels likes it closing and feels like i cant breathe. Try your best to hang in there, i too cried in my wifes arms because I was overwhelmed and sometimes thats what we need to do to release.

How has your doctor talked about the xanax and how you should take it? as far as dosage.

I can definitely feel that I'm on something with the dosage so I know it's working. I guess I wasn't expecting this side effect all day. Maybe it was the fights tonight too! lol I literally was having an anxiety attack during and had to take xanax.

Yes, we've talked about it. I've never take a full pill of xanax but I hate the feeling of not feeling normal. My normal dose is half of .25 because it normally does the trick. When I'm having bad days she recommends taking 1/2 at least 3 times a day. I try to really watch my intake because I don't like to depend on drugs. She's told me to take the full pill when my anxiety is bad but I just can't muster up the strength. I'm a weakling when it comes to medication and it hits me. The feeling of not feeling like myself gives me anxiety. I also have a young child and job I need to be capable of doing. I just get scared with taking more.

Hopeful,

You sound like me... I too have xanax .25mg to be taken up to 3 times a day if needed. It is a very addictive drug and i think the fact that youre aware of the potential risk helps you from getting to that point. That being said, dont white knuckle it as my PDOC told me. If you need it then use the tools available. Hopefully once your meds kick in you wont need any xanax and instead can use the coping skills of other methods. Im actually in the middle of deciding on whether i should take a new job offer but i feel like my anxiety is holding me back. Sometimes tell the anxiety to hit you full force and ask to give it everything it has while you stand there and face it can help realize that it is nothing more than just a feeling. I hope this helps you somehow

Alohaknown.

Thank you so much! It feels great to know there are others like me. My doctor tells me the same thing "don't be a hero...take your meds". I've been taking them lately as needed. I just don't know why this weekend my anxiety has been so high. I'm reading a book on anxiety and it says the more we avoid the places or things that give us anxiety the more it manifest itself. So what you said definitely makes sense!

Hi Hopeful,

I hope you are starting to feel better at this point?

Hang in there...the increased anxiety with your start up is temporary. Within another week or so, the worst will have started to lighten up...and things should seem more manageable.

Dig deep and use your coping skills (and rescue meds!) to get you through the hard parts. smile

Hugs,
