Hello ! I'm new to this community ! 27yo male from Romania.
Here's my quick story:
Last year I got anxiety from stimulants and gym supplements. Managed to deal with it ( 3months )without medication.
This year got worse and i don't have a clear idea of what's happening:
10 days ago i started to feel a sudden hot chill in the back of my head & some tremors . After that, I lost my appetite completely and have a sick feeling.
Bloodwork showed no infection but my doc said my bile is septated and has a strange shape. Could be bile reflux & gastritis!?. Gave me some antacids.
Now:
- first 3 hours after waking up in the morning I got a sick feeling like is coming from my stomach. When I wake up I feel VERY cold for 10-20mins. If I drink something I can't burp and i feel something stuck on my throat. No heartburn no stomach pain!
- i'm anxious/agitated and I'm thinking all the time about this problem.
- i'm yawning often mostly when i got that sick feeling.
- in the last part of the day i'm starting to feel normal again.
I have no vitamin/mineral deficiencies. Now planning a gastroscopy.
Any opinions? I've read some connections between gastritis, bile reflux & anxiety.

Hello TM and welcome!

We are glad you've joined us though sorry to hear of your current challenges with gasto isues and anxiety.

These two issue can certainly be co-morbid...with a 'chicken and the egg' (which came first?) question surrounding the situation.

However, whichever one started the trouble to begin with isn't as important as treating them simultaneously to get relief from both.

So following your doctors recommendations for your stomach trouble, as well as seeking help for anxiety management should be your goal.

You can get started with the self help material in our Resources at the top of the main forum page here! You'll find Meditations, Stress Relieving Exercises, Therapy Worksheets and more to get you going .

If you find you need further help, you can talk to your doctor about a therapy referral.

Talking here is therapeutic as well, so post anytime. We understand, care and support is key!

Thank you for your kindness ! After this experience I feel I lost interest in everything else. I know it's that darn anxiety back again. Can u share your personal opinion about my situation ? When i had anxiety last year I didn't have the symptoms I get now.( besides irritability/nervousness )

Sometimes after a break from symptoms...and feeling better, the anxiety can return, with new sensations. :/

Like I said, it can be hard to tell if the anxiety is causing the stomach issues...or if the stomach trouble is causing the anxiety.

So treating them together should help you find relief all around. Start on those suggestions from the Resources and see how you feel.

Keep us updated, so we can keep you encouraged!

Themage,

I know exactly how you feel. My panic and anxiety first kicked off in a similar way with caffeine a while back. Since then its just been episode after episode till I saught medication. Was good for two years and then it just recently crept back in to my life. I know that exact feeling you mentioned as I went through it yeaterday. I had a lightning bikt feeling followed by heat flow through my face. I was about to eat dinner and wam no appetite. I was scared and didnt want to do anything. I had to get out of the house and walk around before I couldn even start thinking straight. Just wanted to say that i suffer with you and that you are not alone

TM,

Yes, I am sensitive to heavy/damp/stale air as well! I am sure it's triggering because it feels as if we are not getting that good sufficient amount of fresh air as we breathe in. We associate that suffocating feeling with our fear/amxiety symptoms.

Use your positive mantras to reassure yourself that there is no real threat to worry about....and that the feeling is simply a manifestation of the anxiety.

After almost 2 days of feeling normal again, yesterday while driving home I started yawning out of nowhere. When I got home, that sick feeling came back ( almost instant nervousness / irritability lost of interest) sad
1 hour before this feeling came back I ate some pancakes. Can sugar trigger this ?

TM,

Couple of things here...

Yawning can be indicative of improper breathing. Anxious/hyperventilation type breathing can happen without us realizing it...and one of the more subtle signs can be yawning, in an attempt at getting O2/CO2 levels corrected. Try doing some breathing exercises when you catch yourself yawning a lot for no reason.

The other thing this could be is a reactive hypoglycemia episode. Eating a lot of simple carbs, such as pancakes will raise BGL quickly...

...but then they can plummet, leaving you feeling shaky, weak, fatigued, sweaty and anxious.

Most of the time this is an isolated incident, related to a heavy simple carb meal...but if you continue to see a pattern, you may want to discuss this with your doctor to get a blood glucose test run.

Bottom line, this is probably a one and done type of situation, and you needn't worry.smile

Hope you are feeling much better today!

Thanks for the reply !

Can anxiety cause a burning face / hot breath but no fever ? 5 days and I'm still having these. Had warm baths / tea's and took some paracetamol. No luck...

Yes, I have had all of those sensations.

I used to be a little excessive in taking my temperature, b/c it felt as if I had a fever!

Keep working self help coping skills!

Has anyone tried Claritin for anxiety ? Yesterday I had a skin rash and took some claritin. 2 Hours later my anxiety has subsided. Could antihistamines help with this ?

TM,

Prescription antihistamines such as Vistaril (Hydroxyzine) is prescribed off label for panic as an alternative to benzodiazepines.

Benadryl also has been helpful for some...

....so it is not surprising to me that your Claritin had a calming effect for you.

TM,

I am sorry to hear this situation has you frightened.:/

First of all, try not to panic overtake you. This was an initial test, and results can be varying or misread.

Was this your GP whom you saw? If so, were you given a referral to a neurologist?

Okay, that's good that you are seeing a specialist...you are in good hands.

What is the next step? Did you get a restest scheduled to either confirm or rule out the initial dx?

Okay. Good, you have a plan then.

It is going to be alright. You'll find out more once you've retested of course...and for now, there is nothing to be gained from worrying about it. Chances are, you will have fretted over nothing.

So stay distracted, practice your coping skills, and if the worries are intrusive, repeat a mantra such as:

"It's not time to worry about out that now."

Or

"There is a a greater chance (2/3rds or more) that I have nothing to be concerned at all about...and 100% chance that no matter what the result, I will still be treated and everything will be fine."

It will be okay. Post when you need us!
