Well that's what I have been going through and I'm on the brink of insanity. Started with a headache and a rush in the back of the neck. Creepy crawling on the scalp which was followed by my first twitch, then second and third. Then came the bad boys, the muscle jerks. A jerk of the wrist. Ankle, torso and even a tongue SPASM. Now when I try to sleep my body has a mind of its own and my limbs involuntary jerk. Am I dying? Lorazepam helps but I'm scared I have some neurological disease and will be dead soon. Help. Anybody have any experience with this? Also clench my teeth real.bad too.

Hi NN,

I am sorry to hear that you are struggling with this issue. It can definitely be stress/anxiety related...so know that you are not alone with this symptom.

It sounds like you have been seen before for anxiety issues...since you have a benzo Rx...

..what if anything else have you done for relief? Therapy, self help?

We have the latter in our Resources at the top of the main forum page here...so be sure to check them out for great material such as Progressive Muscle Relaxation exercises that will help.

Keep posting with us as well if you find it helpful. We care, and support is key!

Hi

Sorry to hear you are having a tough time at the moment.

I get those same muscle jerks and it's usually a sign that my anxiety levels are running on high so I use my coping skills to lower my anxiety and this annoying symptom stops.

Have a look at our resources for some good links.

NN,

You and me both have these issues so DO NOT FEEL ALONE! It is so scary but I am glad you made a post about this.

My anxiety stems from my health so every little thing I think "well, this is it... I am gonna die soon." Yet, here I am!! Though my issues have been going on for a couple of months, so I do think something is out of line, I try to keep positive. But everything you said, I experience. The only difference is, I do not jerk as much. I have always had a jaw tic which is not at all bad but does get concerning and worst when I am stressed. If it is concerning, do you have a therapist or maybe a good GP? I'd see them. It will help your mind ease, you GP might refer you to a neuro which I have and they will test you too.

Let us know what's happening when you can.
