I too recommend using your Xanax if you need it. (though I technically have to remind you that benzos and alcohol are not a safe combination)
Bring things to keep you occupied if you can't sleep, such as reading material, crossword puzzles, downloaded apps/games, music ect...
...and if you can sleep...do it! It will pass the time by at least a couple of hours.
Practice your breathing and progressive muscle relaxation exercises. (starting now if you're rusty, so you are confident in them)
