I know it's a very stressful time for you both, and I feel for you. The entire process of SSDI can be draining, frightening, frustrating and difficult. I've been through it twice, lost on appeal the first time. (that was over 6 yrs ago) I applied again last year in March, with new documentation and 3 firm diagnosis(s) This made all the difference. It also seems key that your "independent examination" go well with the doctor(s) that SSDI sends you to. I was very fortunate in that mine was a warm, compassionate and open-minded doctor who really delved into my records rather than glacing over them and coming to a snap decision.
I know another member just went through this- with a happy ending. I know they will share soon, and perhaps have some helpful information for you. Hang in there!
