tongue   Hi Gang, Following up on my thread about Benign Essential Tremor: As you will all realise, anxiety & panic attacks come about for a million different reasons. I live a life of "panic" because of my disorder (BET) which I have had all my 53 years. I wanted to tell you I've just been camping with my 8 year old nephew last weekend. Why would you want to know? (Apart from thinking I'm mad as it rained all weekend - the polite version!) Well; I had been going through a bad patch just before going. However; I think that the change in routine actually helped me as my mind was directed away from my problems. I wonder if this might help some of you folk? Change your routine: When does your "attack" normally happen? If you can tie this down, perhaps changing "routine" parts of your daily life will help? Just a thought - if it helps one person - that's great! Thinking of you all. Don't let it beat you - smile & the world smiles with you. Peter

Funny thing that you mentioned camping...I too went camping w\ family this summer and was absolutely symptomless! Had a great time in spite of the fact that I was apprehensive about being far away from any hospital ( have since had an e.k.g. that put the threat of heart attack out of my mind :) ) Anyway on the long ride home guess what? Throat constriction, unease, fast pulse. Should have stayed in those mountains! Maybe you are on to something here. Perhaps someone should start an a/p clinic in the wilderness lol...something about all that glorious nature!?!

Thanks for the positive post

Hi. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Glad I am not alone in this. Still pulling the mud out of every nook and cranny but doing it with a smile! I wish you well. Peter tongue

I went away recently and was so scared about getting on the plane etc but actually had a great time. Different surroundings kept my mind busy.

Same as when I get to work in my garden, after a little while I'll be so focussed on what to weed and what to transfer where the anxiety will go away. yeah

Hey Peter,

I've noticed a huge difference if I don't bury myself in books on panic or research my symptoms. If I obsess about it it always makes it worse. Last night a few us went a stayed at a cabin and I had a great time no panic just enjoyed the outdoors and being away from television and phones.

What a great deal of positivity!   yeah Well - we've sorted that - we'll all live in tents in the middle of Mother Nature! Seriously though; let's pitch our own "tent" in our everyday lives. Wake with a smile. Say Hi World - throw what you like today 'cos I'm not going to be beaten! Having just cooked my own meal ( a miracle with my shaking hands), and mopped yet another cup of coffee from my floor, I'm still wearing my smile & sharing it with you. You can not go to the chemist/drugstore & buy happiness, but you can grow it yourself. With belief that you can affect your disability/illness & the wonderful support from the loving people on HealingWell.com

So smiles all round please and ..... Carry On Camping! tongue Peter

Thank you for that Lyn. My life has been full of ups & downs, mostly caused by my disorder. However; I was created with one wonderful gift: I can make people smile! tongue   I have been an entertainer for thirty odd years, and happy years they have been. Whilst I readily admit that every person's difficulties are different, I believe that we can all help ourselves (and each other) by our attitudes. Instead of a sigh & saying that tomorrow is another day - smile & say tomorrow is a BETTER day! When life is very hard, there are ears & hearts on this website that are ready & waiting with love and support. I would say, use them. I mentioned before the song: A STRANGER'S JUST A FRIEND YOU DO NOT KNOW. I have found that so true. I have the song in zip file mode if anyone wants to send me their email address or contact me on MSN Messenger. To you all - my love & support. Peter
