Hi everyone. I've only posted here a few times, but I thought I'd give an update on my weaning off of effexor xr. I'll recap with a quote from my other post......

"I am weaning off of Effexor Xr. I was on 150mg/day for 2 years, works really well at controlling my panic and depression- as well as my IBS symptoms. Unfortunately I'm not enjoying the 35 lb's I gained, the lack of libido, memory loss, lethargy, and emotional numbness. So I decided (with my Dr.) that since I've had no anxiety for 2 years, I could try weaning off the meds. Well I went down to 112.5 for 4 weeks, the first 2 I was a miserable witch, and a bit tired. 3 and 4th weeks I was fine. So now I'm down to 75mg/day, last week was ok. This week is a different story- headaches, nausea, dizzy spells, my hands and arms get tingly, and I feel quite spaced out. I've also noticed that I have more IBS symptoms, and very mild anxiety."
So the 3rd and 4th weeks on 75mg/day were fine, other than being tired all the time. I then went on to 35mg/day well I was a misserable witch again these past 2 weeks- I couldn't control my unusually short temper, nor could i stand my family or friends never mind strangers tongue  I've been really tired, unable to stay awake in the morning had to have naps. So I took my last pill Friday morning. Today wasn't as bad as I was expecting yeah
I was tired and felt light headed. I was spacey and quick to lose my train of thought. Other than that I have no complaints. Fingers crossed that day 2 goes as well. Oh and I haven't had any anxiety so far yeah

Day 2 stunk! I've slept for most of the day, thank God my hubby doesn't work on the weekends! The light headedness is worse today and my skin is crawling. I can't stand to be touched, which is really hard when you have small children (3,5 and 10) who love to cuddle. I've also been an emotional wreck today, unconrollable fits of crying for no apparent reason- very frustrating! I seem to have a low grade fever too, hot and cold flashes and cold sweats- yuck

Still not as bad as I was expecting, but definately no fun!

And yes I'm going off the meds, at the suggestion of my doc. I'm really hoping that the anxiety doesn't return when all is said and done. Here's hoping day 3 is better than today was, fingers crossed! :-)

When I went off of it I read that Benadryl and Dramamine would help. I used both. Whether they did or not I'm not entirely sure. When I got off I threw it out since it is an awful process. Now I'm fighting my depression/anxiety wondering if I was smart to stop. (My liver tests were bad at the time so I had to stop everything.)

I wish you luck and all the best. Right now I am trying to stop taking Oxycodone. Even though my dose was low by many standards it was effecting me. Getting off of these drugs is no fun at all.

The best thing I can say is that eventually it ends and life goes on.

Michelle...thank you very much for the welcome. Reading posts today has been a great help. I have not even touched on all my problems. I have been surprised that so many posts that I could relate to so well all started with a car accident as mine did.

I am working with the doctors and the pharmacist as well. I am trying to do Oxycodone from 10 to 15 mg to nothing right now and trying to decide if that is such a hot idea or not. The phamacist had recommended going down easier. It has been causing me problems with depression it seems.

Once again, thank you. The support the forum provides is wonderful.
