Anything For You
by Janetlee

Dance a little faster
You're much too slow
Sing a bit louder
You're tone is too low
Your smile is just barely
There on your face
You act like you're dying
What a disgrace!
Put on a show
Day after day
'Cause you're a puppet
Better do things our way.
What a dreary, boring, dreadful little clown
If you won't laugh
You're letting us down!
So dance a little faster
Spin around and around
Don't dare let us see
The slightest hint of a frown.
And when you get tired
Do it all over again
And do it all "naturally"
Let us see that grin!
Now don't you feel better
For making us smile?
Don't say otherwise
We won't believe your denial.

Yesterday's dead
Tomorrow's unknown
Today is here
And soon will be gone.
Use it wisely
Before it's too late
Remember to love
And forget to hate.

Thanks for the kudos! :)
When I write, it is usually when I'm feeling low...so I guess I understand E.A. Poe.
I always feel like the "clown", the "puppet"...doing what's expected of me, no matter how I'm feeling. All the pretense is like being twisted into a knot and making everyone think you're a real straight line. I swear, sometimes I feel like I could've given Bette Davis a run for her money!
Thanks again for the compliments...are you sure you wanna encourage me this way?? You may end up reading more afterall...;)

They are very good, and yes maam hehe, we would like to read more :) I write a lil, our wonderful brownleaf got me into it, and i havent done much lately, im still a newbie to this, but i do like writing, it helps doesnt it? here is a short one i wrote, i wont bore ya, but i wanted to add a short one. Hopeyou dont mind.

Trying to find yourself
Is a hard road to follow
Remembering and dreaming things
Until you cant even swallow

But, to know yourself if a blessing
Theres good and bad things to find
You have to struggle within yourself
To be able to calm your mind

You may find things you dont like
You may find things that you miss
But eventually, In the end
Its the only way to find bliss

So find yourself, no matter the cost
Finding yourself isnt easy, but im almost there
Loving others isnt an option till you love yourself
but when you, you can say......here i come world, BEWARE!

ok so i better click submit before i chicken out, have a great day all

That's great Shell!
I hope everyone will share their writings. If it's from the heart, there's no need to feel that the poem is "bad". Afterall, they're a part of us, right?

Ok as promised here is one of my many...

Trapped

Traped in a wrld where nothing makes sense.
A world where lives and friendships fall apart,
Where everything is bad and all thoughts negative.
A world where nothing goes right and everything goes wrong.

Some day I want to be on the other side.
A world where everything is stable,
Where everything is good, and all thoughts positive.
A world that is perfect in every way.
--Michelle

This was written probably about 7-8 yrs ago in a pretty rough point in my life.

Janet, Shell and Michelle,
Between the drawings and the poetry. . .WOW! You guys are really great. Thanks for sharing them with us. Loved them all. They say that lots of artists, poets, etc. were depressed. That's why the sad stuff touches us so much. We can all relate. I think even people without A/P or depression can understand how it feels to be the writer, painter, whateverer. It's a different kind of person (a real talented one) that can paint a picture with words. I'm impressed!

Anyone here like the song "Vincent" a/k/a "Starry, Starry Night" by Don McLean? It is one of my all-time faves! most folks just know about "American Pie", but to me, "Vincent" is a superior song by far! Don McLean is actually a poet that puts his poems to music. Wowsy!
And JKRsGirl, did you know that Steve Tyler of Aerosmith wrote "Dream On" when he was only 17 years old?!
I love that song sooooooooo much!

Janet,
I didn't know that about Steven Tyler. I find that music alters my mood. If I want to be happy, I listen to happy songs. If I'm sad, I usually want to listen to sad songs so that I can cry and move on. Aerosmith has always had such a mixed bag of songs that I seem to always find something that fits my mood.

Hope you're all doing well.
