I have just been diagnosed last Friday even though this wasn't why I went to docs in the first place! (was for my asthma and for results of blood tests - negative at the mo , so don't have to worry about that for the time being , although I will anyway LOL)

So I've been rumbled by my doc and she is sending me for councelling , she said the first meeting will be a fact finding one - anyone like to share their "first time"? What should I expect? confused

I'm actually glad I've been found out as it's getting worse and now when people see that you are not acting "normal" , I now know it's not me being daft (coz I got really embarassed about it) , I know it's a real condition , and that the doc has told me this.

So , hello to everyone here tongue it's nice to find out that there are other people like me - I don't feel so alone now yeah

Hi smiler and welcome! I think that you will be pleasantly suprised by how easy and non-threatening anxiety counseling is. You seem to have and outstanding attitude and if you go in with an open mind, ready to receive help...you will find it! I have really benefitted from cognitive behavioral therapy. The practices seemed too simple to me at first to be of any value, but I worked them and lo and behold, they work! Just a tip that helped me during the sessions...the therapist will ask you a lot of various questions, if you are like me, you may need time to think through and process before answering. Don't feel pressured to answer right away. (to avoid an awkward silence) I simply say "oh I need a second to think about that one" and that gives me the freedom to reflect and not feel that I have to chatter on. Hope you have a great experience!

Keep smiling
