Ok all I decided we need a bit more happies on this thread the happy thread isnt enough. So...I decided to start this thread. This thread is for Quotes, Stories, and the like. Inspiration to the max here guys...I will start.

Donkey in the well

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided the animal was old, that the well needed to be covered anyway and that it just wasn't worth retrieving the donkey. So he invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement, he quietened down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off! Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up.

I spent over an hour looking for that one hehe. I love these things.

Heres another one of my favs. I am not all that religious but it always puts things in perspective.

"God's Embroidery"

When I was a little child, my mother embroidered a great deal. I can remember the time when, as I was sitting at her feet and looking up at her, I asked her what she was doing. She informed me that she was embroidering. I remarked that it looked like a mess from where I was. As, from the underside, I watched her work within the boundaries of the little round hoop in her hand, I complained to her that it sure looked messy from where I sat.

She looked down, smiling at me, and gently said, "My child, you go and play for now, and when I am finished, I will put you on my knee and let you see it from my side." I wondered why she used some dark threads along with the bright ones and why they seemed so jumbled from my point of view. Later, after some time had passed, as I was playing, I heard my Mother calling for me to come and sit on her knee. I went to her, and as I settled into the comfort and security of her lap, my mother said, "My child, from underneath it did look messy and jumbled, but you did not realize there was a plan on the top, a design that I was following. Now look at it from my side, and you will see what I was doing." Then, when she showed me her completed work, I was surprised and thrilled to see a landscape scene full of beautiful flowers adorned by the radiant glow of a magnificent sunset.

Many times, I have looked up to my Heavenly Father and asked, "Father, what are You doing?" He has answered, "I am embroidering your life." I say, "But it looks like a mess to me. It seems so jumbled. The threads seem so dark. Why can't they all be bright?" My Father gently says, "My child, you go and do My will for now, and one day, I will bring you to Heaven and put you on My knee, and then you will see the plan from My side."

Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will
When the road you're trudging seems so uphill
When the funds are low, and the debts are high
You want to smile yet you have to sigh
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must
But Don't You Quit

Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tints of the clouds of doubt
You never can tell how close you are
It may be near yet seem so far
So stick to the fight when you are hardest hit
It is when things go wrong that
You Must Not Quit

So very true IMO ........fight with all you have laugh til you can laugh no more
Be well all and take care

Thank you lil sis, we havent done this since brownleaf was here, and its a wonderful idea!!! HUGS!
I liked this poem, i hope you do too.

Invisible Bars

Sometimes I feel like a prisoner,
Behind invisible bars,
My eyes don't see like they used to,
Where is the moon and the stars?

Who drew this dark curtain,
And left me deaf and blind?
Is it just old age creeping up,
Will I finally lose my mind?

Where are you, Jesus,
Master healer of this earth?
You are my precious Savior,
You died to give me new birth.

Why won't you heal me, Lord?
You healed the Leper and the lame,
Have I overstepped my boundaries,
Have you forgotten my name?

And then I heard a whisper,
Coming from deep within,

"You are being tested, my child,
Stay the course and win,
I know it isn't easy,
I, too, made a frightening trip,
And I arose again to save you,
From Satan's fiery whip.
For when this journey is over,
And we meet on that golden street,
You will no longer be a prisoner,
But free in God's holy retreat.

I wish you all good days.

If you read the front page story of the San Francisco Chronicle on Thursday, Dec 15, 2005, you would have read about a female humpback whale who had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines.

The fifty-foot whale was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her her tail, her torso and a line tugging in her mouth.

A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farallone Islands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed an environmental group for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her - a very dangerous proposition. One slap of the tail could kill a rescuer.

They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, and nudged them, pushed them gently around - she thanked them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives.

The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth says her eye was following him the whole time, and he will never be the same.

May you, and all those you love, be so blessed and fortunate to be surrounded by people who will help you get untangled from the things that are binding you.

And, may you always know the joy of giving and receiving gratitude.

Here are a few of my favorites. BTW, I love each one of yours, all of them have a wonderful moral. I'm printing them out so I'll have them to read at times I feel down or under so much stress that I think I can't handle one more thing.

"Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same."  Anonymous

"Never lose faith in your opportunity to lift those who are in need, to give strength to those who are weak, to give encouragement to those who falter by the way." Gordon B. Hinckley

"Life is never a failure until we call it such. There are so many who need your helping hands, your loving smile, your tender thoughtfulness."  Gordon B. Hinckley

"We all take different paths in life, but no matter where we go, we take a little of each other everywhere."  Tim McGraw

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." Ralph Waldo Emerson

"If you want a hug, I'll be your pillow. If you need to be happy, I'll be your smile. But anytime you need a friend, I'll just be me."  Anonymous

Thanks for this thread. I love it.

Lyn, I loved it! Here's one. . .

If anyone should hurt you and say a thing unkind,
Remember what I tell you, and keep these things in mind;
For every 1 who makes you cry, there are 3 who make you smile,
That smile will last a long, long time, and the tear a LITTLE while!

If someone says a thing that's cruel, don't let it get to you —
There's so much good about you, and your faults are very few;
Don't let someone who hates the world cause you to hate it too,
For behind the cloud's a golden sun and a sky that's bright and blue!

So if a certain someone should act a certain way ...
Just think of THOSE WHO LOVE YOU and don't let it ruin your day.

This was something i foung that reminded me of things BL would tell
us lyn, just seemed like something he would post, so enjoy!! ;)

Positivity is the

mysterious potion,

Positive puts you

in control position.

Say something positive

about your goal,

Do something positive

about your goal.

Be brave be bold

be positive,

The rewards will be

enormous.

Become a positive

Reactor,

Make positive thoughts

your anchor.

Have a positive mind set

follow through,

And good luck

will follow you.

Focus on the

present,

Make something

of the moment.

Place your goal

inside your mind,

Water it and

you will find.

Once you tell your mind

what to do,

Your mind will start making

your dreams come true.

Because your mind

will do,

Whatever you

program it to do.

Think about your goal

and you'll move towards it,

The more you think about it

the sooner you achieve it.

Be passionate about

your goal and you'll find,

Magic ideas will

enter your mind.

When you need

an inspiration,

The trick is

self suggestion.

Plant a positive

in your mind,

All that I am is

because of my mind.

Self belief is

your steam,

Behind your

dream.

Remember baby steps ;) and have a good day all.

Time Management

One day, an expert in time management was speaking to a group of business students and, to drive home a point, used an illustration those students will never forget. As he stood in front of the group of high-powered over-achievers he said, "Okay, time for a quiz" and he pulled out a one-gallon, wide-mouth mason jar and set it on the table in front of him. He also produced about a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar. When the jar was filled to the top and no more rocks would fit inside, he asked, "Is this jar full?" Everyone in the class yelled, "Yes." The time management expert replied, "Really?" He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of gravel. He dumped some gravel in and shook the jar causing pieces of gravel to work themselves down into the spaces between the big rocks. He then asked the group once more, "Is the jar full?" By this time the class was on to him. "Probably not," one of them answered. "Good!" he replied. He reached under the table and brought out a bucket of sand. He started dumping the sand in the jar and it went into all of the spaces left between the rocks and the gravel. Once more he asked the question, "Is this jar full?" "No!" the class shouted. Once again he said, "Good." Then he grabbed a pitcher of water and began to pour it in until the jar was filled to the brim. Then he looked at the class and asked, "What is the point of this illustration?" One eager beaver raised his hand and said, "The point is, no matter how full your schedule is, if you try really hard you can always fit some more things in it!" "No," the speaker replied, "that's not the point. The truth this illustration teaches us is, "If you don't put the big rocks in first, you'll never get them in at all. What are the 'big rocks' in your life, time with loved ones, your faith, your education, your dreams, a worthy cause, teaching or mentoring others? Remember to put these BIG ROCKS in first or you'll never get them in at all. So, tonight, or in the morning, when you are reflecting on this short story, ask yourself this question, "What are the 'big rocks' in my life?" Then, put those in your jar first.

Busy
Once upon a time a very strong woodcutter ask for a job in a timber merchant, and he got it. The pay was really good and so were the work conditions. For that reason, the woodcutter was determined to do his best. His boss gave him an axe and showed him the area where he was supposed to work. The first day, the woodcutter brought 18 trees "Congratulations," the boss said. "Go on that way!" Very motivated for the boss’ words, the woodcutter try harder the next day, but he only could bring 15 trees. The third day he try even harder, but he only could bring 10 trees.Day after day he was bringing less and less trees. "I must be losing my strength", the woodcutter thought. He went to the boss and apologized, saying that he could not understand what was going on. "When was the last time you sharpened your axe?" the boss asked. "Sharpen? I had no time to sharpen my axe. I have been very busy trying to cut trees..."

Dear Me,

Over the years, I have resented you for not being athletic enough, brave enough, funny enough, smart enough, talented enough, handsome enough, rich enough, admired enough, educated enough, New York enough, outgoing enough, quiet enough, old enough, young enough, loving enough and loved enough. I have demanded perfection from you and have found you wanting. The result of this obsession with perfection has been to make you terrified of failure and ridicule, angry at any and all obstacles, and finally, incapable of enjoying the bounty that was not only around you, but within you as well. Well, all that’s about to change. From now on, I’m going to make every effort to love and accept you as you are. But since bad habits die hard, I’ll start with something easy. From now on, you’re old enough.

Affectionately,
Me
