Hey everyone!  Sorry I haven't been around for awhile; I was feeling so great.  Not anymore though...

So, this is what happened:

I flew back to the states for a wedding for a couple days, and then back to poland.  On my way back to poland I lost my bag with my paxil in it.  I had no insurance, no ability to speak polish, and no money, so there really wasn't anything I could do.

But I had been thinking about stopping the paxil, so I decide this was going to have to be it, and I braced myself for the side effects of coming off it.

I was very fortunate and did not get sick at all, even though I know that many many people do, and it is not wise to stop taking it so suddenly.

I felt great for about two weeks, no panic symptoms, etc, but now my panic is BACK!

I am so upset.  I thought I finally had it licked!  I've spent the past four days thinking I have AIDS; a heart condition; cancer; that I will choke on my food when eating alone in my apartment, die, and have my corpse be eaten by my cat; that the gas from my stove is on and I will die in my sleep; the same for carbon dioxide; just die in my sleep for no reason at all; etc.

After two weeks off it I'm thinking of starting up the paxil again, and I'm just so disapointed! sad

I have heard quiting suddenly can bring on break through anxiety with racing thoughts, maybe you should go back on, slowly wean and maybe try some CBT? CBT is awesome for those racing negative thoughts. I'm sorry your not feeling well. Try distracting yourself and tell your self over and over and over again that it is ok to not be scared, you were not scared for two weeks and its ok to not be scared now. I have a free online CBT course and will be happy to forward it to you if you like? It has really made a difference in my thought patterns. If you want me to forward it to you my e-mail address is in my profile. Hope you are feeling better soon!

Hugs

One more thing...
As I've been sitting here checking the forum, I just have this pain in my heart. It's been here for a couple days. It feels like someone's squeezing it, and the pain kinda goes down my left arm too. I think my heart is broken.

But I'm only 23, so what are the chances my heart's gone bad? It must be all the fried polish food I've been eating... Fortunately my new job includes insurance, if I ever get the paperwork finished so I'm not an illegal immigrant, so at least I'll be able to pay for my tripple bypass :-)

When I tell my mom she says she thinks I pulled a muscle between my ribs--my father did this awhile ago and thought is heart was bad. If so the pulled muscle must be from all the crazy sex with my new polish beau. He is so great! I cook us food all the time, and this weekend I knitted him a scarf. It is fun to play house! At least one thing in life is going good!

Do any of you get heart pain that is by itself and not part of a panic attack? Or could it be a single-symptom attack? Is there such a thing?

Hey! I have that as well, Im 19 and think something is wrong with my heart...I get regular chest pain...comes with back pain as well and left arm pain.
I went to see a doctor a few months back and he said i had a bicep infection which can lead to chest pain, so he gave me an injectino for that and for about 2 weeks it was fine and then it came back, i went to see another doctor and he put me on some meds, all other pain has gone except my chest pain, and it is quite annoying. I suggest you get someone to give you a massage, like your beau! I get my bf to massage my back, try massagin your chest where it hurts, and see which muscle it could stem from thats what i do. event hough it scares me, i think to myself, it if were really something, i would have had more pain than this. it could also be because of the food. but i do think i pulled a muscle really badly alot of muscles that is, because my whole left side has been in pain. but i did alot of sports, and did canyoning as well, and i wasnt paying attention because i wanted to feel better so i was pushing myself beyond my limits. although i havent done any exercise in awhile and i probably should! but im sure its nothing, you must have pulled something. also i realise that after i go to the bathroom i dont have the pain anymore for awhile...
alot of the time my pain is both back and chest, at teh same time so im never sure if its actually just my back hurting and i feel it in my chest or what!
anyway, i hope this helps you! hope you feel better! xx

Maude,

I would go see a doc abouut the whole med thing. As far as the heart goes I would say with anxiety it is probably nothing BUT it is always better to check with a doc.

As far as the change of names I would contact Peter our admin and tell him what happened before you have peoblems about double names or anything. You can e-mail him at admin@healingwell.com

Please keep us posted.

Hi Hyacinth3

Welcome back to HW. I agree with Lynn about contacting your dr and letting him/her know what is going on with your heart and about not takeing your meds. You really don't want to flip a coin for a dx's. Good luck hun and please let us know how your doing.

I recently got off paxil too. I'm 26 and thought the same things you were thinking. After a month off paxil I again started getting the attacks. Now I'm back on and gradually starting to feel better.
