Hi

I was just switched to the generic form of zoloft and i was wondering if anyone had any experience with this. if so, was it as effective for you? i feel like it's not quite as good, though that could all be in my head. i have heard several people say that there was a difference even though the medical community would suggest that 's not possible.

I dont have any info on meds but from what I have heard here it seems to suggest they might vary slightly from non generic.

Also welcome to HW. I am sure others will be by to share.

just wanted to bump this again and see if anyone had any negative (or positive) experiences with generic antidepressants of ANY kind, not just zoloft.

i switched to the generic (sertraline) made by teva and i just did not feel right after a few days. it may very well have all been in my head, but that's where the problem is anyway, right ;-) anyway, i switched back to name brand zoloft and it's kinda like i am readjusting to it again (even though i switched to generic and only for a week).

at any rate, just wondering if anyone has any experiences with generics affecting them differently than the name brand. because most doctors will tell you that there's no way it should be any different.

Usually generic meds have cheaper versions of same chemicals in them and for some ppl they do not work nor agree with their systems.....just a cheaper form of making pills with more profit IMO
Here In Ontario the Doc just has to put on the RX NO substitutes and then no generic meds are given
For myself I find that the generic pain med I take makes tummy really upset and have resounding headache fromit so now I dont get any generic meds acording to doc's RX and I d find the difference

IMO generics are usually good enough and usually much cheaper, oiftern they are mads from the same ingredients by the same drug cos, on the reasoning that someone will make them so it might as well be them

the use different color dyes, tablet shapes and packaging with another drug co name

there area  few poor quality or fake inactive generics around but rely on the pharmacist to avoid giving you these, if doubtful about a generic ask the pharmacist who if well organised should know its full history tongue   and vpoch for it

As well Hary there was a show segment on 60 minutes with regards to places in poor countries making generic meds when some of them checked they had perhaps 20% of actually needed ingredients in them .......I will look back to date of that show or will find it somehow I was stunned to see this myself
