Anyone else in here struggle with OCD or habits that they would like to break that would not technically be considered OCD?  I was curious, as I didn't see a room devoted to just OCD.  Is it because OCD falls under the "Anxiety" heading?  Well anyways, just wondering if anyone that has habitual problems or OCD has had any success with habit reversal training?  I was reading a bit about it yesterday on the internet, and it sounds very helpful.  I have this swallowing habit/feels like I'm choking when I'm eating in public thing, and I would love to find relief from it someday :(

Thanks & Much Love to Everyone!

This would be the right place to type about OCD. I do know we have several people here with OCD and I am sure they will stop by soon and share with you.

I am severe OCD and yes I do have many many habits or as I call them routines I HAVE to do daily or my day is blown
I am a cleaner ..............
I have to have all things in house balanced.....pictures....... nic nacs .......2 of each
My candles and everylil thing is totally balanced
As well I wash floor when I go to bed when I get up ( dont ask) lol AND everytime I go out the door
I am a smoker I have ashtrays all over ( balnce thing) and yet I use 1 all day no more and thats sad lol
My bro's and others come in and purposelly turn things around
(once it was 17 things ....nic nacs and small framed table pics) and it took me less thean 10 minutes to find all )
My bathroom is so clean you could eat in there literally ......
I wash hands and do things in sequenses of 3 or 5
like checking doors for locked 5 times
ect ..........
I would talk to you doc about this as it can become more advanced than what you go thru now and there is help out there
I dont take ssri's for personal reasons but I know they do and have have helped many ppl
Good luck and take care
any questions ask away

there are many types of OCD, I have unwanted embarrasing recollections which are from OCD

self help books on overcoming OCD have useful advice and an antidepressant med sometimes helps

the throat swallowing thing isnt OCD but moreso anxiety and is quite common
