Does anyone who has anxiety or panic disorders struggle with irritability?  I hate being grouchy and not myself.  It has gotten better over the past few months but it is still there.  I also have knots all over my neck and back- it is painful. Can anyone relate?  Also, has anyone experienced weight loss as a symptom?

I went through all of that!!! My anxiety used to make me so irritable it was causing constant fights between my husband and I. Its just an unfortunate "side effect" I guess :( I also had constant neck and shoulder pain, so I used to get regular massages. And finally the weight loss - at my most anxious I lost 10 lbs. Its amazing what this disorder can do to our bodies, really it is. You'll get through it though, I did :)

I second what Hopeful says! It's the stress and tension. I didnt realize just how bad I was til my A/P got really bad after the birth of my second child, plus post-partum depression too! After two meds that didnt work for me, my doc tried Paxil. I remember looking back after a few weeks and thinking "How did anyone even put up with me?!"

Keep up with whatever you're doing - it does get better.

I get like that have been like that for yrs the least little thing will set me off and I flip then feel bad for doing so
I try more now to be better with my moods and weight gain (went to 85lbs) so I can at least look a wee bit healthy plus I have a teen daughter that needs to see a semblance of normality somewhere sometime and I know my moods were getting to her we had to go to couselling over the mood thing and other things as well
I totally agree with Ali on this all the best to you
Keep us posted

The weight thing is a different thing with me I use to shut down and just not eat I cant and wont do that no more pretty scary what I looked and felt like at the 85 lb er mark at least try a few small snacks over the day to keep you getting some nutrients

I get irritable right before my period, but other than that I'm not so bad. I know what you mean though, sometimes if I'm having a lot of anxiety all I can concentrate on is trying to feel normal and I don't welcome any other interuptions. I snap at my kids sometimes because they are constantly talking to me and following me around and sometimes I'm just trying to get my act together. They are too young to understand that I'm having a PA or extreme anxiety and I feel so bad when I find myself behaving like that. As for the weight thing, my weight is pretty stable. I fluctuate a little, but I wouldn't say anxiety effects it too much. Have you ever been tested for thyroid problems? Some of the symptoms can be rapid weight loss, anxiety and irritablility? Just a thought if you haven't, it's a simple blood test.

Hello aquarias

I get very irritable over the least little things at times. I try to keep my mouth shut and my mind focused on something else real quick but there are those times I speak before I think. Those are the times I feel my worst BUT those are the times people know I had enough and they back down.

I am real good at controlling myself but it has taken time to learn to do this and my meds help to keep me calm. I have always been a strong women but never a rude or angery women.

Hang in there it will get better.

'Irritable' is my middle name sometimes lol...I try really hard to control it...there are one or two things I do that help me - taking a deep breath before I reply, delay the answer to a question by saying you will get back to them...and 'selective hearing' works well sometimes lol.
