For the past few days (almost a week now), i get a tightness in my left temple.  there's no pain at all, and it comes on and off.  it almost feels like the way a pulse feels, but it's like a throb, there's no pulsing.  i'm really worried that maybe this is the beginning signs of a brain aneurysm or something.  i probaby should make an appointment with my doctor, but do you think this is stress related??  or something more serious?????

Hi worrier
I don't know much about aneurysms but I do know that when I am stressed I get that tight feeling around the temple area. If you still worrying best check it out with your doctor to put you mind at ease.

Take good care.

I spoke with someone down the road from my work just now, and i'm thinking maybe it's my eyes.  For the past few months i've been meaning to get them checked.

totally not an aneurysm - if it was you'd be dead by now. when i am extremely stressed i get pressure/tension/pain right around my temples. most doctors agree its caused by stress and unknowingly clenching your jaw at night. it could be from eye strain too, so getting your eyes checked could be a good idea as well. but really, i wouldn't be too concerned about it at all unless it develops into tension headaches which are just the worst, trust me :(

Agree with hopeful. Migraines are often unilateral. I too get this pressure in my temple - sometimes the entire side of my head/face. Have you talked to your doc? Maybe he could refer you to a neurologist. Hope you feel better soon.

I haven't experienced the warm gushing blood in my chest, but I can relate to the feeling in the throat. I actually get this really weird feeling all the way from my throat to my chest, like a weird tightness-it's hard to describe. Like I read on here before, anxiety causes all sorts of weird symptoms!

Dear Nicmerry,

Welcome to HealingWell.  I am so sorry you are having problems.  As you are only 14 I would like to suggest you sitdown with your parents and talk with them about your health problems.

We are not professionals and perhaps it is a good time for you to get a medical check up.

Again welcome.  Keep us update on what is happening.

Hi Nicmerry,

Welcome! I'm so glad you have joined us. Kitt is right that it's probably a good idea to check with your parents about seeing a doc. If you don't feel comfortable talking to them about it do you have another adult in your life you trust?

Please stick with us and tell us what's going on with you, feel free to join in our other threads k?

Nikki - I had similar headaches and found out I needed eye glasses, whew. Have an eye exam as soon as you can, ok? I hope your headache is nothing serious and I hope you feel better soon. Until then, concentrate on all of the good things in your life and visualize your self in a great, peaceful place. I sometimes destress by researching exotic vacations, might sound weird but it works sometimes to imagine myself traveling to an exciting destination and getting away from it all...

Take comfort in knowing that people care about you and that you're going to be okay :o)

I was pretty worried myself until i read this topic. Its strange though that it came out of no where...tightness in the temples (sometimes only on the left side) sinus pressure although there is no mucus dizzyness and sometimes blurred vision. Can it really be that simple that i need glasses???

I get this. But mine is caused from 2 things. Sinus pressure and TMJ. I clench my jaw all the time. Which causes temple pain, spasms and just plain uncomfortable.

Sinuses cause it. I myself do get dizzy show no signs of allergies. But doc says I have allergies and the meds help. I'm currently waiting for my med to kick in. Stupid stuff takes 2-4 hours for relief. My temple right now hurts and is funny feeling. But I don't panic about it anymore FINALLY! Spent a week of roller coaster anxiety/panic attacks until I went and seen the doc. And found out it was nothing serious.

And yes having trouble with your vision can cause you to squint and strain your eyes. Which will and does cause temple pain along with eye pain. So getting your eyes checked is a good idea.

worrier 247, i had the same pressure in my temple, dizziness etc this summer and, of course, spent months thinking it was a tumor. turns it out was from unconsciously clenching my teeth due to anxiety, which causes a muscle spasm on the side of my head. apparently it's HUGELY common. once i figured it out, thanks to my dentist, i stopped worrying about it and have now moved on to my latest health worry/ obsession, armpit pain. isn't if fun how our anxious minds will always find some symptom to latch onto?

OK, all of you saved me.  I thought this pressure on the right side of my temple was something horrible!  I had just come back from lunch and had BBQ and after lunch, I got this weird feeling on the right side of my temple, of course thinking the worst, I started to panic a little wondering where I was in relation to the nearest hosptial.  Then I started telling myself to calm down and think!  Which I was able to do, so I figured it couldn't be so bad that I was confused or anything.

I started thinking what I had for lunch which was meat that I had to chew, the fact that my jaw felt really weird too and I've been under a huge amount of stress lately.  I thought, maybe I've been grinding my teeth at night and I was just feeling it when I had to chew a lot.  I followed my jaw line up to my right temple and was wondering if it could be from maybe grinding my teeth. Not really knowing if I really grind them at all.   I was then thinking, I hope that I wasn't trying to talk myself out of something that could really be wrong.

So, it's very rare I turn to my computer to find results of a possible health issue.  But, I did and found your emails and glad that I did.  So, I wanted to take the time to sign in and share this with someone who may be under unusual stress having the same temple pressure and my email just may calm them down.

Thank you!

I have been getting these same symptoms, been really worried it can be something serious like a tumor, or MS. I had panic attacks and could not sleep well for about 3 days. I finally went to the emergency room, because the pressure was starting in the front of my head behind my eyes and moving to the back of my neck, seemed to get worse when I laid my head flat on my pillow. So the hospital did a no contrast CT scan, and said it came back normal, and for me to go have a follow up check up with a MD, So today I went to the follow up appointment, she said she thinks it is from dehydration. I don't get headaches often and for some reason I am not convinced. Could the CT scan have missed something?

Hi Seattlerain,

You have posted to a very old post and many of these members are no longer here. Might I suggest you start a new post, so you get more attention. And welcome to Healingwell!

Hi alex and welcome.

Since this is an older thread, I doubt that you will be hearing back from anyone on this particular one...

...however, if you have a similar concern, you can certainly start your own! (Post New Topic icon/toolbar left)

From experience however, most of these symptoms do turn our to be anxiety related...so also please see our Resources on the main page, 1st post for great info and self-help.:)

Post anytime!
