I go to conseling every two or three weeks....for the last 4 months
the last time I was there my conselor said to me that we wasnt getting anywhere ,she said because things are over whelming me....I thought that was all part of going to conseling ,to talk about those things...
I'm thinking I should tell my conselor that if she feels she cant handle it to switch me to another conselor
I'm kind of feeling discouraged about the whole thing

Mandi,

If you are not feeling comfortable with your councelor I totally think you should switch but perhapse you might want to consider trying to see your councelor more frequently. This could help things not build up so much between sessions and maybe you can take care of more things.

Hi Mandi, can you go to the counselor more frequently? Another idea is groups. Recovery groups for anxiety and depression - you can go every week and it's free. I do think it was innapropriate for your counselor to tell you that because you are overwhelmed you are not getting anywhere. You're right that is why a lot of us go to counseling. I would ask her what she recommends that you do instead? Of course, don't take her opinion at face value. Their are not so good therapists just as their are not so good restaurants. If you didn't like the restaurant you wouldn't give up on going to restaurants, you would instead try new restaurants. Don't give up!!! Take care.

If you are not comfortable with your counselor I would see about getting someone else.. I hear the CBT are good with handling anxiety. I wish you the best...
