I am fixing to get serious about CBT. I am at the end of my rope. What experiences have you had with it?
Thanks,
janet

I'm gonna live forever
"cause everyday
and every minute
IS forever when you are hurting.
Pain knows no end
And no one can see it
When it's inside
In the mind
Wanting to tear it out
Wear it out.
It keeps on coming
Won't leave
Eating away
Like acid on skin
Life's wearing thin.
I want it to end.
I'm in a lonely place
No one can come in.
Anyway, it would be
A bad place to bring a friend.
Living forever...that's my fear.
Yesterday's dead
Tomorrow's unknown
Today is here
And soon will be gone.
Use it wisely
Before it's too late
Remember to love
And forget to hate.

I was sticking with it for a while and it was really helping me but I fell off.

I'm going to start it up again as it helps a LOT.

I just have to be in the right state of mind to focus on each lesson, else I can't concentrate at all.

Where are you taking CBT?

I started with the anxiety clinic. Unfortuently I missed it this fortnight because of the bush fires and not being able to leave the house in case they hit.

I'm finding it helpful, I keep a notebook on any bad days and we go over them. She takes them apart and when I've used my positive talk etc let's me know I've done well and have really achieved something. She'll use the white board and we dissect each part of that bad day, and what it means and what my feelings meant and is there a better (more rational ) way of looking at it. Remember all they are are feelings.

And my favourite quote.... I'm neurotic not psychotic. lol

Hi Janet, I've had both "insight therapy" and "CBT" and a combination of both. I think that both are very important. Their is a good CBT online. Check out www.mymoodgym.com.

Here is the correct link...

Another GREAT book is "10 Steps to Self Esteem." It is a great workbook to work through with your therapist. Gives you something constructive to work on instead of going off on tangents like us anxiety folks like to do.

Tough days lately. I do want to try the CBT. I need to learn how to stop worrying about the fear! I wake up and it's THERE. I try to NOT think about it, but it's like trying to pretend there's not an elephant in the room when there is!

I did some of the CBT last nite, Lyn. I'm soooo stressed and I'm so tired. I need to get a grip. Been crying a lot today. Feel weird. Restless legs, tired, sweaty. Surreal.
Anyone else done CBT for GAD?
