Does anyone else constantly touch their hair and face?

Does anyone else constantly touch their hair and face?  I think I started doing this when I would get unusual feelings on my head and face, I would touch that part and they would go away, and now i think it has become habit for me.  Just wanted to see if anyone could shed some light on this.

Welcome to HW were happy you joined us here. I do tend to tuch my face and run my hands threw my hair a lot. I have really never noticed this until I read your post but hubby confirmed it for me. Wow how strange. Hope to see more post from you soon.

Touching face and hair in times of anxiety - yup that's me.
You know when you are a kid and you hurt yourself..and someone says..'rub it better' - I think it's the same theory..we are trying to comfort ourselves. I know what you mean about the unusual feeling on your face and head..kind of like 'pins and needles' for me around the cheek bone area. Remember to breathe deeply and these symptoms will ease and go away - when we take control.

Sounds like me LOL

I hold my face when I'm panicking or twist my hair into loops or just hold my hand to my forehead.


I've always had a think for groping my own hair and playing with it... but it's a lot worse now with my panic disorder.

I can relate to this.
When I was in hospital, my anxiety attacks were so bad I would pull my hair out. Ive had to have it cut short now.
Thankfully this was a short term thing and the hair pulling improved when I got a bit better.

Yep touch hair all the time in anxiety mode ...

I'm always touching my chin or my collarbones..kinda embarrasing!!!!  I'll even smack my own forehead when I have panicky thoughts...trying to dislodge them I guess!

My hair is a mess because of how much, and how long, I have messed with it. I twist it, I rip at it. Alot of times I don't even realize I'm doing it, my husband will come by and put my hands down. I'm usually stressing or worrying about something during those times.

I touch and play around with my jewellery when I'm nervous. I rub and pick my face when I'm stressed. If I am in a safe place like home I feel material - like the cuff of a top or a pillowcase , it has to be soft like brushed cotton , and cool.....I don't have any idea as to why I do this?? eyes

I used to twirl my hair a lot.  I only do it now when I am really stressed.
