Hello to all.
You may know from other post that I just got out of the hospital with Psychogenic Seziures and also have migraines. Well, I haven't had any seizures but a lot of "panic attacks", none to severe yet(ie:clentched hands, muscle spasms) mainly just racing heart, sweating, panic feeling, anxiety, anger, spinning world. I have ativan but it takes like 40 minutes to work, and also I have a HUGE tolerance to medications, so 1mg is like drinking water. On a bad attack, I take 3.(I'm allowed 3 or 4 a day). Also, even though it says 3-4 times daily, he only prescribed 60 so I'm having to rashin to keep me going through the holidays.
I'd much rather be on something like the Klonopin Wafers. They worked great for me (even though I was using them for slight anxiety and headahces). Is there anything else is wafer form or instant release? My doctor is on "sabatical" this month so I can't see him till 1/15 and I am suppose to be following close with him (discharge orders). I don't know what to do. I really feel like things could get worse as I have tons of people over and go from house to house, and I have 8 ativan left right now...but I didn't abuse them so I don't know what to do.

just venting. thanks for all the support I get on here.

Hi there Angmichelle
Hmmm..pills...they are great when we are feeling bad - but sooner or later we have to do the hard work and start working towards some positive thoughts and self praise when we have mastered the art of calming ourselves down without the meds.
You have made it out of hospital and that's great :)) enjoy christmas try and relax and put all those 'icky' feelings to one side for now - use meds if you have to..matbe some counselling later on might be a good thing :))

i'm in couciling right now. I just have panic attacks really bad, at least I'm able to keep them from becoming seizures. I am trying my best to do the CBT stuff, but its hard and the ativan or whatever keeps it from escalading into something like a seizure.

I do understand what you are saying though...
ps:you see its 6am and I'm awake, haven't been to sleep. I tried deep breathing, meditation, positive thoughts, relaxation techs. and I'm still awake.

I dont understand why if you are allowed up to 3 a day he would only RX 60 doesnt make sense to me
I would call his on call or replacement doc
The only thing that comes to mind is Sublingual ativan which goes under tongue and into bllodstream 'Works quick and for me it is great at helping keep other illnesses in check ..........
You must have a very high tolerance to meds ........

At night when taking your ativan or ambien have a nice HOT cup of milk ( activates the ingredient in it to calm you and put you in realxed state to sleep
The reason we heat babies milk up I would think
Put a touch of cinnamon on top or slight ( very) of Hot Chocolate if you cannot handle the milk taste

It was suggested to me to do 20-30 minutes of deep breathing exercises. The practitioner insisted that many of her patients got better by doing this. I just can't seem to do it for that length of time but I do it for as long as I can. If you don't have a technique, let me know.

Ang ,

I posted this for someone else who was having trouble sleeping - thought it might help you too :

When you wake up have you tried making a warm drink of either chamomile tea or hot milk and cinnamon/nutmeg which all have sleep inducing properties.

Also try a calcium suppliment just before bedtime as this soothes insomnia.

For anxiety oats (like porridge ones) contain thiamin and pantothenic acid which act as gentle nerve tonics. They can help with fatigue , stress , and depression too.

There is also a kind of narcotic found in lettuce that can help to induce sleep (it is stronger in wild lettuce but still present in the ones we get in the shops) so try eating a few leaves before bed or when you wake in the night.

Hope you get sorted soon ,

Thanks for all the replies I will def. try the suggestions. the other day i was awake atl east 36-40 hours. I don't have ambien and its hardly works anyway, but I've tried breathing, hot milk, exercise, relaxation, music, baths, shopping, laying still for hours with my eyes closed trying to make myself fall asleep and I can't. But the thing is I"m exhausted. Its not like, i don't need the sleep or something (like mania or w/e) but I just cannot fall asleepp. I finally crashed at 3am this morning after some ativan and slept for a while, but I dreamt the whole night. I don't know if its withdrawl since i've been on sleep meds. for so long, or what, but this is why i went on them in the first place. My phys. at that time said "Its better to have induced sleep than no sleep at all". Not too sure about that quote, but thats what i was feelin the other night.
Its frustrated b/c i'm trying not to rely on meds. but it always seems like that is something that I have to have. I havent though, been needing the ativan as much, so thats good.
Sorry, I know my post are long, its just been a long, long few months. A LOT has happened and my body and mind is overwhelmed.
Peace to you all.
