Hello there. I usually hang around the IBS forum, but I've got something that I feel may belong in here.

Ever since Thanksgiving, I've had this feeling like something was in my throat. It went away for awhile, but its back now and its really annoying! Yesterday I thought I got rid of it, but it just keeps coming back. When I message my throat I dont feel any lumps or anything... it just feels really tight around the right side of my neck around the tonsil. Theres no pain, but I feel the need to clear my throat now and then.

Due to the general discomfort that this sensation creates though, I get really worked up and I'll start shaking, usually at night. I really hate this cause it somewhat interferes with swallowing sometimes. Is there anything I can do to get this feeling to go away? Maybe I need something to take to relax?

Hi Lazy Lady!
Maybe you should have your thyroid checked. I think the shaking is probably from the fear of wondering what it going on.
Hope your feeling better. Dee

maybe some turkey bone stuck in there? confused
the throat is a very complicated piece of engineering, feeling a lump in it when none is there is a very common anxiety thing but do get doc or a nurse to look at your throat, just in case
in extreme cases, anxiety caused throat problems make people grind up all their food in a blender as they can only cope with liquids, or to live on soup eyes

Actually, I just got some bloodwork done afew days ago from a check up. She did check my throat too and found no lumps either. Thyroid functions are alright, and this feeling in my throat seemed to be caused by *drum roll* allergies. After taking a decongestant and Claratin, the feeling went away in afew hours. I'm guessing post nasel drip was irritating my throat or something... Very sorry about posting this. I got alittle too worried there.
