I am a relatively young A/P sufferer. I have "cried wolf" in regards to my health for so long that I am worried that if I have a "real" physical problem in the next 30 years I will just brush it off as anxiety and not seek medical care. Can A/P sufferers differentiate a real problem from the day to day suffering we experience?

Good question hypo - I ask myself the same thing quite often! Sounds like this may be one for Harry...

I know there can be a thin line between where our anxiety ends and physical problems begin but I personally think that instinctively if we listen a little more to our gut than our minds it will tell us if it is anxiety or not.

I am sure others will be by to leave input later aswell.

you all talk about having anxiety over thinking that you have all these major health problems and i don't do that. i know everyone is different. but it is like i get panicy and anxiety from just life in general. it is like it is all toooooooooo overwhelming and i can't stop any of it from just taking over my thought. yes i have physical problems with it like fatigue and not sleeping or sleeping all the time. i get sick to my stomach but that is it.

so am i the odd one or is it that everyone is just that totatlly different........oh and i didn't say that to mean that anyone else is odd either (sorry)

Hey HYPOPANIAC,

I'm just wondering what you consider "crying wolf"?  Do you have hypocondriatic thoughts about your physical and/or mental health? If so, do you have them strongly enough that you are contantly going to the doctor?  If you are going to the doctor, do you exagerate your symptoms?

Health Anxiety is something most of us go thru I dont call myself a hypochondraic I know I have the physical issues I deal with them each day
the anxiety I deal with in a differnt way
We can change our ways of thinking IMO and we will know ( I do ) whether we are physically ill from ap or if it is something else entirely
My 2 cents

Hypo-

Anxiety and panic can cause real health issues. I'm not understanding the "crying wolf" thing either. Anxiety can cause the heart to speed up, you sweat and can cause lightheadedness in some people. It can cause stomach problems, ulcers, headaches etc.

If you'd expand on what symptoms you experience we all might be able to help you better. I hope you are doing alright since you haven't posted to any of the replies. We are all here for support.
