I always have this feeling, that something will go wrong. But nothing does. I think I'll die in a car crash, or that the person with a heavy load infront of us will accidently dropping their load, falling on the ground, and smashing into my car. My dad is similar to that, and a LOT of people say he's crazy. I dont think Im crazy...
But has anyone ever had those thoughts of dying by the safest things? I feel like im the only one.

Hi there
No you are not the only one
I have heard others on the board talk about this in the past It is part of your Anxiety and Panic processing IMO
Are you on meds at all or do counselling ??
If not I would suggest seeing a therapist /counsellor to try and help you get thru this
CBT is also great to work on
Cognitive Behavoural Therapy
Post often and be well
Glad to have you aboard

Thanks for replying. I didn't think any one would reply.
No, I'm not on meds.
I use to be in conselling, but that was for a different reason. Plus, I don't do well talking to people about my problems face-to-face, only if I know the person VERY well.
A lot of people say I am just a little too morbid, where I am not.

You are not alone. I have these panic attacks also, usually when driving, or when I'm at work. I feel like something terrible will happen. Sometimes I can talk myself out of the thoughts, but not always. I've never told anyone about these feelings, so thanks for giving me the opportunity. I see a family dr. for fibro, so I am not takin any meds for this anxiety either. I feel foolish. Now maybe I'll bring it up next visit :-)

Hey, i have some of those feeelings too. i have my drivers permit right now. at first i could drive all right, but now i feel freaked out to drive, because i also feel like something bad will happen. i freak that i will get in an accident, or lose control of the car. or maybe i will have a panic attack or black out when im behind the wheel! i also dont like driving fast. i dont know why i let myself get worked up like this, but it makes me lose my motivation to take my drivers test next month, which is not cool because my drivers license would hopefully give me a lot more freedom. many of my friends already have their licenses and can drive fine, so i dont knwo whats wrong with me, guess my fears all all part of the panic thing.

I get those thought quite often too - especially when my two kids are out in the car together!

Therapy of some sort is the most important step (IMO). There are tools to be learned to help change those thought patterns that bring on the attacks. Its amazing how subconcious these thoughts can be, so much so that many times you dont even realize you're having them! If you feel uncomfortable or embarassed going to a therapist, many on this site have found help with the site Lyn references above.

Try not to be embarassed or feel foolish - A/P is quite common. Even if this forum is the only place you can speak freely about your feelings and thoughts, it helps to let it out.

Best wishes to all,
Karen

Man I get scared of the car with the ladders in front of me too. As you can see your not alone in being scared of "safe things"

I do the same exact thing. I think of the worst-case scenario all the time. Even if I daydream (thinking nice thoughts) something disasterous will happen to ruin it. It's like i'm preparing myself for the worst all the time.
