Hey everyone,
I still have yet to go to the doctor and find out but I'm pretty sure that I have anxiety problems. Lately I have started getting dizzy feelings once or sometimes more a day.
Today was the worst and I had to leave work early. I also get panic attacks, usually only when I drive on the highway. There is a history of panic attacks in my family. What worries me is lately anxiety (not so much panic attacks, or is it both??) is happening more often and come out of the blue. I hate the helpless feeling like I am going to pass out. The dizzy feeling used to come after a night out drinking and then I would be fine the following day, post hangover. Now when I drink, which is rarely but too much when I do, I am totally dizzy the next day. The problem is the dizzy spells are coming now on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Fridays long after consuming any alcohol at all.
I have resolved to give up booze but I don't think that is the problem, although it may have contributed in the long term to what I am going through now. Any tips on what medical checks I should get done to make sure it is indeed anxiety and not some blood proble? Again, I am sure it is anxiety and I know for sure I have had panic attacks when driving - sweating, dizzy, shaky, the whole deal. It is not withdrawl because I only go out once a week. The anxiety is strictly the dizzy sympton. Ginger Ale on the brain, as Tony Sorprano tells his therapist.
I would love to chat regularily with some cool people to help me along.
Thanks a million.

Hi and Welcome
it sounds like anxiety to me and I think you should see a doc about it,what do you have happen those days that you get panic attacks does something trigger them or are you aware of what it could be
When you do see doc be open and honest and see what he /she has to say this is a real disorder and needs to be treated as such
Proud you are seeking help and support
explain what you feel and how you feel
I am glad you have decided to give up the alcohol as it only will make it worse
I am not a doc but the symptoms sound like a/p and you stated you have panic attacks
HOpe you do continue to post and get support
We will be here to help you thru what we can
Please know that the ppl on here are the best and are so supportive
I hope we get the chance to get to know you and you us
Post and let us know how you are doing okay
Take care and stay strong yet cool ...lol

Hi Ronan

panic attacks when driving are common, especially on freeways

stop the car, park safely, get out walk around and do some deep slow breathing

dizybess amay be from many things, several tests will need to be done

insist doc checks your ears for wax, so obvious but often not done

read up on the net about derealisation, can be similar to dizzyness

I agree with Harry the dizziness could be coming from derealisation. It's a very scary symptom to have until you know what it is.

Have a doctors appt for next week. Besides the obvious - check ears, eyes, blood sugar, anything else I can get tested to eliminate something physical for dizzy spells?
