Tight throat anyone??? The underarm pain has subsided for the most part. But now I have a tight throat off and on. Doesn't feel like a lump or anything. Doctor couldn't feel anything either. Just typing right now is causing my throat to tighten. Stress related maybe. Also, no menstrual cycle for 2 months. Had ultrasound Friday, no results yet. Have feeling this is hormonal or/and stress related. Anyone have any feedback? Please...

if they cant find anything else its probably anxiety, you could try valium which relaxes the muscles for a while also learn new ways of relaxing and calming yourself

I get a tight throat and it often happens right before I eat. I was suffering real bad from P/A in 2000 when I started college I felt like I was going to choke on my food everytime I ate. Ever since, I get tense sometimes in my throat before I eat. My Klonopin helps though.

I think alot of A/Per's get a tight throat or trouble swallowing. I hope your doc can help you out with these problems.

Hi there! I understand EXACTLY what you are talking about. I get that off and on as well. In fact, I had it today. It just feels like someone has their hand around your throat and they are pressing just SLIGHTLY. Like your throat is constricting, and you wont be able to swallow. I have gotten that soo many times. I KNOW that is from anxiety. When I get that now. I try, as hard as I can, to get my mind on something else right away..for ex: when that comes on..I immediately tell myself..it is a nervous reaction. I start to think about a song that I LOVE and what the lyrics are..and CONCENTRATE on that. The more calm you can muster...the faster that feeling will go away! I know that is hard to do at times...but believe me it works. It is scarey, I know, because you feel like at any moment you wont be able to breath, or swallow. But remember..FEELING like something and actually not being able to do it...are two different things. Tell yourself..I feel as though I cant swallow, but if I relax...I know I CAN swallow...therefore, it is my mind that is making me feel this way.

I also had that underam pain you referred to. I had it yesterday..off and on in the afternoon. It starts right under my left arm, beside my left breast, and goes sort of around and under my arm. Not quite up in the pit...but just below it. It feels like a bad ache. It came on...lasted about 10 mins..then went away for about an hour and then came back again..off and on .Now today ....nothing. Havent had it at all.

Thank you to you all for your replies. I realized it is totally anxiety related and I am taking your advice 1ofhisheep, to concentrate on something else. It's working. Normally I ride it out and stress over it, like something extremely bad is going on there. Your way is much better. Also thank you for mentioning about the breast issue. It's all about tension for me. The way my arms are scrunched to my sides (from tension) while sitting...again, anxiety. I had not realized how much the mind controls the way the body reacts to anxiety. Without you even knowing it. Til you have some aches and pains that is. Anyway, thank you 1ofhissheep for your reply, it sounds like you can relate. That's comforting. And thank you all for your replies as well. All feedback helps. Have a nice day.

You are very much welcome! I am sooo thrilled that what I suggested you do is helping! Living with Anxiety is just sooo darn draining. It is truely a battle of the mind. Our thoughts can take control if we let them...the goal is NOT letting them. I hope what I have shared with you continues to give you some relief. I will remember you in my thoughts and prayers! :-) God bless!
