Hi all my name is Gail and I am visiting from the Crohns forum and have a question I hope one of you might be able to help me with.  I really never have thought that I have had problems with anxiety or panic other than my typical Crohns worries.  I noticed that a few people from the Crohns board are on this board so they will understand that.  (i.e. always worrying about where a bathroom is, etc.)

But I have been thinking about a few things that happen quite frequently when I get REALLY worried about something, or REALLY stressed about something.  For example, I recently had a herniated disc in my neck and was put on timed released Morphine twice a day for the pain.  When the doctor gave it to me I was not concerned about dependency or anything, just wanted relief from the excrutiating pain.  about ten days after starting the medicine my beloved husband who is a almost 20 year recovered drug addict became very concerned about me being on such a strong pain med for what seemed to be becoming an indeterminate amount of time.  He lovingly expressed his concerns which really got me thinking and worrying about dependency and then having to go thru withdrawals to get off it.  If any of you have gone thru withdrawals from pain meds or even AD you can relate to how I felt.

Now to my point.  When these rough times hit (maybe 3-4 times a year), I will get really ill.  Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hot/cold chills and can't even get out of bed for about 3-4 days.  I can't eat and am very ill.  I have read about anxiety and panic disorders and think I lean more towards the panic side.   I think I need to get on some kind of anti-depressant or calming medicine, but am really concerned because of the loss of sex drive the AD can caused.  With the Crohns I already suffer from a low libido and don't want to add to it.  Is there a medicine out there any of you have tried that didn't effect your sex drive?  If anyone can relate and might have some answers, I would really appreciate your help/advice.  By the way, I had successful surgery to repair the disc problem in December and quite successfully and without any problems weaned off the Morphine without one withdrawal problem!  Thank God!!!   Any advice is greatly appreciated.

God Bless,
Gail *Nanners*

Thanks for the response Lyn. I think I will have to really get with my family doc on this. In some of these events I will end up in the ER because I get so ill and dehydrated. Thanks again for your response.

God Bless,
