I have heard a lot of people complain about chest pains on this forum. Most people reply that chest pain is unusual etc. Just thought I would let everyone know that most chest pain related visits to the ER are anxiety related and chest pain and panic attacks go hand in hand. Not trying to be a know it all just thought that since I have worked in the ER for the past 5 years and see this I might share.
Also let me add I'm not saying not to take chest pain seriously. But if you get them fairly often and have been checked its a symptom of your anxiety.

Thank you for that information. I am 19 and realize that my heart is probley a-ok but my anxiety does give me chest pain and weird feelings.I have been checked in the ER many times and had EKG's and it is just my anxiety and some heartburn/acid reflux.

I wish I knew but IMO I think it is our adrenaline zaped way up and then it causes pains in the dang chests sometimes mimicking a heat attack
Just an opinon not factually based

When you have a/p your blood pressure rises which in turn causes your heart to beat faster and work harder which causes the pain in your chest. (Short version) This is what most medical doctors think causes the pain during anxiety. I also think some people create the pain because not all anxiety sufferers experience the chest pain. The first time you get chest pain you think heart attack which causes a fear of having a heart attack everytime you get an axiety attack, for some the heart can become an obsession (I never worry about cancer/losing my mind etc) when thats all you fear I think the mind can target that spot and cause the pain and mimic your worst fear. It is said typically that most men worry about heart attacks while women worry about going "crazy". I can cause myself to have a panic attack (full blown) if I even hear about someone having a heart attack under the age of 65. While working I have to put my anxiety on the back burner but everytime I work with a heart situation I will freak out when I get home. The mind is either a wondeful tool or your worst enemy.

Its because your body goes into a fight or flight mode even though there is no real danger.  I get anxiety when hubby gets heartburn because I worry it might be a heart attack.  I've heard too many stories of men in their 40's droping dead from a heard attack.  Also they say the good die young so always worry about DH. tongue

Hi I get the chest pains allot with anxiety. I go in every time I think it is necessary the dr told me not to ignore them. Some times I feel like a jerk because I know most the time it is just anxiety but the pain is so sever.

But has anyone had their heart stop from anxiety attacks. Yesterday I had a bad time and went to hospital after getting there for an hour while they are running test on the heart my heart stop, no pulse no breathing...I come back around in less then 30 seconds.

Has anyone heard or experience this???

I agree that with your DR. although if most ppl with anxiety went to the ER everytime they had anxiety they would need to rent out a room because they would never leave. Anxiety will continue to eat at you if everytime you have a panic attack you think your dying and run to the hospital. That is the wrong way to go, you have to fight the fear and tell yourself that nothing is wrong, its only anxiety and it can't hurt you. As for the heart and no pulse no I have never heard of this. Were you in the ER when this happened? Were you hooked to a heart/oxygen monitor? What exactly did the ER dr's say?

Yes was at the er and was on a heart monitor. There was still rhythm but they could not find a pulse in four diffrent areas on me and stop breathing. Going to go to my heart dr this coming week just to have it check out to make sure nothing is going on. I do have SVT...super ventricular transmit. Have had the surgery for it but they did tell me that it could grow back together. I notice once in a while that the symptoms for that does come back from time to time. Just have to go and see what happening...thanks

Hey Misty-
Was just wondering if you had gone to the DR. yet and what they thought had happened.
