HI all
I  am currently on celexa with some improvement of my anxiety, however my depression is not any better. My Doc has suggested Effexor. Can you guys give any positive feedback?. I already know the side effects, but does the stuff actually work?

Hallo.  I have been on 75 mg Effexor for 15 months.  It has given me my life back, so yes, it works!  I have gone from sleeping only three or four hours a night with sleeping pills to sleeping for eight hours without sleeping pills.  My anxiety has disappeared.  I have gained 14 pounds in weight and I get "head sensations" but that is NOTHING to the anxiety I was experiencing.  It takes about four weeks to take effect but I would say it is worth a go.

I had very few side effects on this med.  It didn't work for me but it may be right for you.  I'd suggest giving it a try as it is good for anxiety and depression.  Goodluck and keep us posted.

Effexor is a very good antidepressant and might be the one for you if Celexa doesn't work. But make sure you've given the med at least 8 weeks with a dose increase (if you can tolerate it) to see if it's going to help. Too many doctors switch people too soon and you end up on the merry-go-round.

Let us know how you're doing!

I tried effexor but it didn't work for me, I was on it for 4 months 300mg by the end and while it helped a bit with the anxiety it didn't stop a bad depression hitting me.

I have been taking effexor since last september and it has really helped my depression and anxiety.  I dont know what I would have done without it.....I can only offer positive feedback.
