My mother just told me that she read about a study at Tufts University that found that fish oil boosts mood. Has anyone tried this, and, if yes, what is the recommended dosage?
Thanks!!

I believe some here have and had mixed results. We are all different so as has been stated in the past what works on some may not work on others.

answer your dosage My Dr wants me to take 2.5 grams which is 3000 mg. of high quality fish oil that meets the IFOS internatainal fish oil standards. no pcb. no lead. and must have 65 % or more epa and dha per softgel. I have been taking them for 3 1/2 months and have been panic free for 3 months. listen to your MOM the worked for me!

I take Fisol (2 tablets per day) along with my regular dose of Zoloft and Trazodone. The evidence is fairly good that EPA in particular is beneficial to mood disorders.

There are no credible studies however showing it outperforms medication. It can't hurt to try it.

Hi there. I hear more and more about fish oils and how good they are for you in helping with various illnesses. I have some that are Spectrum Essentials( brand name)..360 mg EPA/240 mg DHA per serving. Wild caught small fish. No mercury, lead or PCBs. 0.8 grams of Omega -3 per serving.

I was curious, those of you who do take them...do you store yours in the fridge? It says to on my bottle after opening.

I take fish oil and feel that it might've helped some, but can't say for sure. (Taurine has absolutely helped me though!) I do have a friend that has some anxiety issues. He said that of all the supplements he's tried, fish oil has helped his mood the most. It shouldn't hurt you to try it, but not to replace your meds. They are a good augmenting supplement though IMHO!

Im sure there would be info about l tasurine on the net, simply type it into google

I take fish oil capsules for artritus, heart and so on

anxiety sufferers often get a very strong placebo effect from any of these so called food suppliments, so it can be hard to know whether theres any actual help

I would avoid the very expensive ones with miracle claims an the more expensive and extravagent the claims, the better usually is the placebo effect

Hi harry! i take Fish oil for anxiety ,3 months of Placebo free anxiety for me. must be a very strong placebo effect?is this the reason you take fish oil for your heart?with that be said lets get to the real issue! the cure and the cover up! drug companys would lose$$ billion if a cure was found for anxiety, what if the the cure was fish oil the eicosapentaenoic acid, docosahexaenoic acid, the human body can not make on it's own! to support a healthy brain. you need fatty acids bottom line! it WORKS! look at me 3 months free of anxiety please people do you want a life time of drugs with harmful side effects, which in the long run might hurt you. Try fish oil you don't need a drug company telling you what is best for you, or a drug petaling Dr. earning flyer points with every zoloft, he gives out! wake up! and do something and get well! GOD bless!

fish oil is fairly cheap and no longer generally causes fishy burps as it disolves lower down in the abdomen, definately worth trying for anxiety and whatever ails you, the max epa type I think, is best
btw it comes in 44 gallon drums wholesale
eating the oil in sardine cans is recommended too

There have been many studies since this post and fish oil has been shown to help with depression and the accompanying anxiety.

I eat lots of wild salmon and sardines, but I started high quality fish oil this week and will report if it helps.

Funny, I started the fish oil several years ago for heart health and
I haven't had very many PAD problems in several years, so no placebo effect here, think I will get some back up there on sale!
