Hello,  Anyone ever tried mirtazapine??  I have IBS which has caused anxiety/agorophobia.. I never leave the house unless to go to the doctor but then someone has to drive me..  I am sick of being sick!!  Test after test sugery after surgery and I am still sick..  So now of course they think it is in my head..  Well maybe some of it is.. I have tried Zoloft and Paxil and the side effect where to much for me to take..  They tell me mirtazapine's side effects are better..  I pray for help..  THank you...

its another antidepressant, all these meds are best started with a very small dose by anxiety sufferers otherwise  they often have severe reactions to them

since everyone reacts differently, you will have to try it to see how you go

Hi Ryleigh,

Good luck with the Mirtazapine, I have heard that it is a good medication but have not taken it myself. I have bowel problems myself and they are definatley made worse by my anxiety. Do you take anything to help with your IBS? It is not in your head hun, but it will definatley be made worse by worry and anxiety.
I hope the anti-depressant helps you. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on with it.

Take care

Mirtazipine is a very good antidepressant to use if you suffer from IBS or other chronic stomach problems. It can be very sedating at the beginning of treatment, but this usually goes away as you increase the dose over time. It is effective and beneficial for both anxiety and depression.

Give it a shot and see if it will help you.
