My new health fund contacted me today and said yes they were covering me to go to a private hospital straight away. yeah

It's been something I've been fighting for with the old fund since January 15th when I had to go into a public hospital mental health unit (really awful, I wouldn't put my dogs in there).

Now i've just increased me meds again even 1 day ago I really wanted to be in hospital now I don't know if I should go in straight away or wait.

If I go in now I know it'll help while the meds are kicking in and the hospital I'll go to has therapy sessions mornings and afternoons so I'll come out of it with more knowledge. I guess now it's finally happened I'm a bit scared.

Glad to see you are finding SOME silver lining in your situation. I think its a big decision but if you have been fighting to get since Jan you probably deep down feel you should go or need to go.

That's what I'm thinking Michelle.

I'm going to ring the hospital today to see about bed availablility and I also have to see my psychologist and GP today so I'll discuss it with them.

Thanks Lyn,

Hubby can only get a week or so off in the next 2 weeks and then he won't be able to get time off for over a month to watch the kids.

It almost feels like I need to do this to put an end to the awful year I've had and look at is as the start of a new and healther future,

I know I have a chemical imbalance, I know I'll be sick on and off and I accept it. What has been so soul destroying this time was getting the wrong doctor first who caused me nothing but grieve. My current doctor has a room at the hospital I'll go to and I really like the way he's handled my case since I started seeing him and the extra time he gives you.

I am so glad that you are doing what you need to do for yourself. I know about bad doctors. I hd one who did not pay attention and I could have died. One of my arderies was blocked and my left arm had not pulse or blood coing there. I could have had a stroke if it had not been noticed by my current doctor. I have some realy good doctors at present for that I am real thankful. Please hang in there and keep us posted.d

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, I rang the hospital who contacted the health fund who said no I can't go in. (Remember my old one did this to me 2 months ago and I ended up in a public hospital and ward which still gives me nightmares).

I was at the doctors at the time so all I could do was cry. I got home and rang my health fund who said no everything is fine you can go in but we'll reconfirm it and ring you back. They did and then said they'd contact the hospital directly to let them know it was ok.

I've just had the hospital ring me saying they got the verbal go ahead but because of the mix up they want it faxed to them so they have the ok in writing and will then ring me back.

I feel even closer to losing it now. I'm just waiting desperately for a phone call and a date to go in, as they're pretty booked out though the depression/ anxiety ward is usually quiet.

To top it off my husband isn't sure if he can get holidays (even though they owe him at least 3 weeks from January) and is trying to let me work out what to do with the kids.

I'm barely keeping myself together after what's happened earlier today, why can't things ever run smoothly?

Well it's been arranged, I'm going to a private hospital tomorrow for about 10 days stay.

I pray I come out of there healthier then now, so everyone take care and I'll speak to you all when I get home.

Good luck and good for you for advocating for your own health. It's a shame its so hard to ge help when we need it badly. You just take it easy and htings will work out. Your husband will deaal at home so don't htink of leaving too soon.
