I have anxiety, panic disorder, OCD, etc. For the past month or two, I have been doing pretty good and not having the heart flutters or skips.

Today our Captain was in my office and made me kinda nervous. After he left, I got a fluttery, heart skipping feeling in the base of my throat area. I tried to check my pulse to see if it was skipping, but it felt skippy and I was afraid to really check. It lasted about 10-15 seconds, but felt like longer.

Please reassure me. Please don't scare me because I will obsess and go crazy.

Thanks so much!

greyhound....

i get that all the time.  sometimes i notice it more when i'm under stress or suffering from a lack of sleep or after drinking alcohol.   it's amazing to me how i can go for weeks without feeling it at all, then bam!  it's one right after another.  i have been checked out from top to bottom and there is nothing wrong with me other than needing to shed a few pounds.  i've been informed that most people, more often than not, have heart skips, pac's, pvc's, etc.  it's just us "crazy" people that notice them more and then obsess about them!  LOL  go figure!

hang in there.  i stop by here from time to time.... selfishly more often when i am having some anxiety issues myself.  you are among friends here and we all care - and have walked many miles in your shoes.

I experience it now and then. I bet everyone does. MzPam is probably right...it's just us anxiety sufferers that notice stuff like that more.

I still notice it even though I'm medicated and no longer experience panic attacks. I just don't care...haha. When you're in a "good" frame of mind you know when to worry and when not to.

Hi Greyhound,

My heart doesnt flutter, but I do get rapid heartbeat a lot. And the more I focus on it the faster is seems to beat. I think I make myself more nervous. I have Panic disorder and OCD as well. I get nervous over every little strange feeling I have. Then I start thinking something is wrong and my chest gets real tight and I feel like I can't breath and then I panic.

I'm sure what your going through is just panic/anxiety. If you are really concerned, you can go to the doctor just to make sure. That way if it happens again you know it's nothing to worry about.
