I would think you are having extreme SENSORY anxiety I may be wrong or saying it wrong but I know if I am angst out to the max yes I will see trails like the ole (Fladshbacks)

I have not had it happen too much but when it does all my senses are on "HIGH alert"

Hope this helps

Flashbacks? You've dropped a little acid in your day, Lyn? haha

I've not experience these trails or tracers (under normal conditions), but have fallen victim to visual phenomena that ended up being diagnosed as ocular migraines.

Wait...

I just waved my hand in front of my face and did see its trail. Nothing I'd consider abnormal, though. I know it's hard but is there any way you can describe this in more detail?

Like when i wave my hand i can see *the air* and a faint image of my hand is still there for 1 second. it might be normal i dont know like is aid my girlfreind said everyone see's trails when u wave fast or move objects fast.

the best i can explain is its like MOTION BLUR.

maybe im just thinking about it to much so it happens?!. i have NEVER took lsd or any other kind of drugs. so it cant be lsd.

im going to canada for 2 days. i hope i can withstand this anxiety.

Like motion blur? Yeah, I think that's normal, especially when the light is dim. The eye doesn't operate a whole lot differently than a camera, really.

I had EXACTLY the same thing when I was having my Panic Attacks.  If I turned my head in any direction a would have a blur.  I went to Las Vegas during this and that was crazy!  I felt like I was falling over all the time.  It was one of the worst symptoms I had.  I am actually very surprised that more people haven't experienced it.

Under high anxiety, the muscles in my neck used to get really tense, and when I'd turn my head I'd get sort of a "zap" like my brain had a power surge or something - for just fraction of a fraction of a second it would seem like my eyes would blur and I'd hear a sort of static "burp".

I also remember seeing things move just on the periphery of my vision. I read later that this is not atypical for people experiencing anxiety.

The point is that anxiety brings out all kinds of weird physiological phenomenon. In some cases I think we become so involved with our experience that we notice normal (but maybe weird) things that ordinary people do not. BTW...A/C current like what's in your house has a strobe like effect - try waving a yardstick back and forth quickly in front of an incandescent light. : )

Hey Lyn,

Is Alice 10 feet tall?  Never met her................

Somebody said...I also remember seeing things move just on the periphery of my vision. I read later that this is not atypical for people experiencing anxiety.

This happens to me and it gets spooky but I have learned to just ignore it.

Respectfully

I am 23. I have had Panic and Anxiety Disorder since I was 15. I been to a couple specialist's who diagnosted me with also High Blood Pressure that can cause the trails when you move your hand. I used to wake up in the morning scared I was going to sure enough have a Panic attack and It freaked me out, and I would kinda Wave my hand and see the trails and then It would freak me out and set off my anxiety. But out of all honesty....It's Normal.

ok the trails are probably "floaters" which are a reflection of normal blood flow in the eye on to the fovea. Look at a bright light then your eyes the bright colours you see are jus a cool reflection. If your having a anxiety attack your blood pressure is up so floaters in theory are worse. Also moving your hand across the face close to your causes an over-stimulation of the optic cells responsible for detecting movement if your having an anxiety attack your brain is already over-stimulated and in theory cud produce an overthe top image of the hand or any quick moving object. I gona research abit on perphial vision but imagine its a similar story. The periphal vision i think are more likely over-stimulation and the hand trails are jus a cool light trick

I experience trails too I've had it since my depression and anxiety started in my teens, my latest severe bout of depression has really been rough. anywhere it's dim or dark I can see trails. They eventually go away when I'm back to "normal" and my meds finally do what they are supposed to. I will admit it's pretty annoying, I just want to see clearly and not have to worry about all this crap. No sense telling the doc or getting my eyes checked because they won't find anything and just think i'm nuts lol

Oh well, just have to deal with it I guess shakehead

Hi nicsnice2u, Welcome to the anxiety group. You've posted on a very old thread and I doubt any of the posters are still around. I invite you to start your own thread by clicking on the button on top on the left side saying Post New Topic, to tell us about yourself and your life with anxiety.

Again, Welcome I'm glad you found us, this is a caring community that understands all about anxiety. :)

I'm going to lock this post as we like to keep older threads off the main page, and so others don't post on it. Again you are welcome to make your own thread.
