Help everybody. I do not understand why I have renewed a condition that I had 12 years ago, anxiety and depression? This is horrible! I have no reason to have this, I have two beautiful young children and a wife. I am 32 years old and teach, plus we are going on a two and a half month break in two weeks. I remember feeling this way 12 years ago , but why now? I went to get St. Johns Wort and something called Calm Advantage. I have not started taking them because I was waiting to see if it would go away, but it has not after two weeks. It has gotten worse in my eyes, to the point where the anxiety is causing frequent bowel movements and diarrhea. I have even decided to stop drinking in hopes that this will help. What should I do? Any advice will help, thanks for listening. sad confused

Dear Julio

Welcome to Healing Well, I am Kitt.

With depression and anxiety you can go for many years and do fine and then boom it is back.

I have had both conditions for 25 years and I have gone for years on same meds and been fine, never even thought about my condition. Occasional panic but nothing I did not get past and then the bomb fell in fall of 2005 it all started again.

I tried to get through on own for a while but eventually showed up in MD's office.................With many med changes and lots of therapy I have gotten to the point that I am ok again, but a bit fragile.

My best advice, see your physician and make sure it is your panic/depression and not something else.  Work with your physician.

Keep posting..........we are here 24/7.

welcome julio

its usually not known why anxiety happens and a waste of time and money to find a hidden cause, just treat the symptoms....

valium, also perhaps an antidepressant med and learning CBT will help a lot

Hi Julio

Maybe you are experiencing the anxiety from the upcoming trek - it sounds wonderful btw. But you may be worrying about what might go wrong whileyou are away - just a guess?

Any sort of change can set us off, so that would be my guess, but if you are really concerned then as Kitt said, see your doctor.

Also, if you're a coffee drinker, cut back on that, it might help the diahrea (sp).

Hope you feel well soon.
