ok i have posted on here quite a bit and i hate to be annoying, but i get something on my mind and i just have to check it out before it drives me crazy.

I haven't had my panic/anxiety condition diagnosed yet, although i am in the process and have started therapy. My therapist says that you can expect "butterflies" in the stomach with anxiety, but i get a kind of dull gnawing in my stomach, almost like a stomach upset, and i get extremely heavy nausea to the point of it being quite disabling (the nausea occurs especially when i am in a situation i can't escape easily).

is this extremely heavy nausea and stomach pain NORMAL for anxiety disorders? Sorry to be annoying and ask, but if i don't, it will be all i think about for the rest of the day.

-thanks

Yes you can have nausea and vomiting when your into heavy anxiety. The list of symptoms goes on. I have to clarify that I am not a professioanl so that is my opinion but you will see many others post the same symptoms.

you can also get it from other causes and should, IMO see a doc about it

remind doc that anxiety sufferers arent immune from other illnesses

some docs think that all our complaints must be friom anxiety, or depression if we have it too mad

I get extremely bad nausea with anxiety to the point where I think I must have a stomach bug because it feels so bad that I have to lie down. Nausea is my main symptom of anxiety. Everyone has a main symptom, whether it be palpitations, sweating etc etc.
I sometimes take anti nausea meds, ginger capsules or antacids to help when its really bad.

thank you SO MUCH for the response everyone, it's so great when you know you're not alone. i can eat fine when i'm on my own most of the time, but i tend to feel a bit ill/stomach ache when i'm preparing food. When i was still in college before i had to pull out because of the nausea, i just wouldn't eat all day which i think made things worse in the long run. I am on anti-acids coz i got diagnosed with gastritis, and i think they do help a little maybe, but i think its all down to the heat of the moment when i'm somewhere i don't feel comfortable. Brains are funny things.

YES so true
I think I have posted a couple of times that I have in the past "shut down: and not ate nor drank ANYTHING but a few sips of ginger ale and went to 88 lbs

I was depressed and the thought of food made me feel nauseous

I fopund that my teen daughter was doing what I was until I spoke with her and she said point blank
"IF you dont eat .......I wont eat"
That was a big turn around as well as being tube fed
Now I make self eat small meals a few times daily ..........
WE need the nutrients to keep the body and brain in some semblance of "working order"

Talk to your doc about some Dimenehydrate or Gravol ......not sure where you live but thats what it is called in Ontario ,Canada .....I believe Dramamine is what it is called I might be wrong
Am sure someone will let us know .......eat some crackers ( salted) just a couple to settle tummy if you like them and put some PB on it then you will get your protein there...

Hey Boxcastle,

Yes it is Dramamine, but you probably want the non-drowsy kind during the daytime.

Start out slow with your food, as Lyn suggested small frequest meals, crackers, toast, applesauce, gatorade for electrolyte replacement.

Keep posting.
