it is possible to harness the anxiety and make it work for you, sometimes

an example is a former australian prime minister who was an excellent public speaker and debater in parliament

he sweated so severly before and during speeches that his suit had to always be sent to the dry cleaners afterwards, soaked in sweat . no body could have realised this however, he was so good

recovered former longtime anxiety and panic attack sufferer and helper of other sufferers  but no training or  qualifications in medicine or psychology, any remarks that may be taken as advice must be confirmed with doctor or other health professional

Everyone deals with anxiety to one extent or the other. I sometimes wonder EXACTLY how much anxiety all these suffered from, like how long of a duration, what type, how many times, etc.
For example, I know that Willard Scott suffered from panic just before he'd go on the air during the Today Show. As far as I know, he was fine except when speaking in front of others basically. Others have occassional PAs, while some may have GAD like me. I guess what I'm saying is that just because someone says they've suffered from anxiety, all is not equal. But I do feel for anyone that has ANY panic/anxiety, etc. to ANY extent.

HI Janet,

I agree, I don't know to what extent any of these people suffered, but if I remember Valium was at one time a drug of choice for celebraties with anxiety. Don't quote me on that  lol. eyes

I think the ones that really stick out in my mind are the bipolars and there were a lot but that is a whole different diagnosis.

Just trivia but interesting.

Wow, I can say I'm in company with Johnny Depp. cool

I always remember watching Oprah years ago and she had on one of the guys from New Kids on the Block. This was way before I suffered anxiety. I remember watching him talk about anxiety and you could see from watching him how bad his illness was he was literally shaking in his seat. I remember feeling so sorry for this guy and what his life must be like well lucky me now I know exactly what it's like.

I wonder if with their careers and being so busy with the actors they can go off and be someone else, I just wonder if that helps their anxiety?

Here are a few more that surprised me!

Clay Aiken
Drew Barrymore
Paula Deen
David Beckham
Earl Campbell

I never really thought about how many famous people have dealt with/still deal with anxiety and panic!  I guess it really doesn't matter who we are, how much money we make, the color of our skin, male or female....etc.  Hope everyone is doing well today!

Hey All,

You are so right, anxiety can affect everyone of any walk of life.

I remember the New Kids on the Block on Oprah.

Just makes you understand that anyone can have a mental health issue.

Thanks, you are all the best.

WOW that is quite a list. What amazes me is that the majority of those people were, and are, constantly in the public eye and must be under tremendous pressure to perform, whether in a movie, on stage or in the sports arena. Even with minor anxiety or panic, it must take gobs of courage to keep on keepin on. My hat is off to ANYONE, not just the famous ones, who keep putting one foot in front of the other and continually strive to improve..

Hey there

Your right everyone that suffers from anxiety is equal, their pain is as hard for them as famous people.

I think these lists are to show you that the disease is not only our disease but everyones, it has no boundaries on whom it is bestowed.

I have sang the" why me woes?" to my therapist when I was first dx with depression and my therapist said, why not you?

I had no answer, he was right.

Thank you so much for joining us and please stay with us. yeah
