Hi, everyone I am a newbie who has severe depression & anxiety & have a question for anyone who knows about this problem. During my sleep I have been hyperventilating & not being able to breathe I was told it could be a form of apnea, but also an anxiety attack. I have a lot of stress in my life & trouble falling asleep because of racing thoughts. Anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Hi Pacots,

I also suffer from severe depression and anxiety, and I have found help through medication and counseling, but I still have that feeling of not being able to breathe when I am going to sleep. This still happens to me, especially during times of stress. I've had many nights up until 3 or 4 AM for this reason. Even taking my med doesn't calm the symptom down sometimes, but deep breathing helps me some. I hope you are seeing a doctor about your symptoms, and hopefully you will get some help. The racing thoughts is a real sign of anxiety.... I have that, too. Glad you're here and hope you stay ((((hugs)))).

I also used to suffer from anxiety and depression and I can say that I was really desperate in finding a medication to help me cope with what I was suffering and I finally went to a doctor. He prescribed me with a medication called Desyrel , it really worked for me. I can say that I am recovering and I'm MUCH better nowadays than before. I was very depressed in finding a medication but this one is really worth taking.I would recommend you to ask your doctor if you can take it because you need a prescription to get it...I hope that everything will be ok for you.

Pacots,

Welcome to Healing Well and to the Anxiety ~ Panic forum.  I am Kitt.  I have Depression and Anxiety that is under control right now.  I had trouble sleeping for a long time but no hyperventilating.  I would just cry, or get up and sit in the dark in the living room crying .  I felt like there was not another soul on earth that even cared I existed.

With the help of Pdoc and therapy I am doing very well now.  I am on meds but each person is different.  What works for me may not for you.

Again welcome to our family.  I see you have met some of our wonderful members already.  Stay with us.  yeah

Respectfully
Kitt
