My mom fell and broke her ankle this morning. I had to get ger to the ER and back home. She has a doc's appt. on Thursday morning and I'm in for a long hard row to hoe! She's got a LOT of OCD traits and so almost everything I have to do for her is that much harder! If you just knew...!!!
I probably won't have as much time to check in...you know I've been trying to be more supportive. I know you sweet peeps will understand! Everyone hang in there and take care of yourselves!

Dear All,

I took mom to the doctor get a cast put on this morning. I am soooooo stressed that I feel on the verge of breaking down crying! She told me that I have to be strong (she saw that I'd been crying earlier today). She's been crying on and off cuz she's depressed and miserable. The cast is uncomfortable and she has a sore butt from having to sit so much. I'm having to do all the running around, going on errands, help her with bathing, going to bathroom, getting her food, taking care of my cockatiel too, and also go clean the offices for her. I am so tired and she's got to wear the cast for 6 weeks. She has OCD traits in regards to cleanliness, so she won't let anyone come help her at home. My aunt helped me clean offices last night, but it's still tiring.

Please tell me some coping tips. I don't want to go back into the GAD.

thanx!

janet

Maybe write a list of what is really important and focus on those things. If you run yourself ragged you're more likely to get sick yourself Janet. Whereas if you get through this relatively unscathed you'll be so proud of what you've accomplished it could actually be a blessing in disguise.

i was in a similiar situation and had to move back in with my mom for six weeks. i had my husband for support but i did it all for her. down to wiping her. i dont know how i got through it. i just did. he was there for me when i needed. can you rely on your aunt for errands and some other type of support. just try to rally as much support as you can. maybe a friend could take your bird for six weeks. or family member. someone else could help your aunt do the offices. and your job could just be your mom and her needs. thats kinda how i did it. i was only about my mom. if i needed something or she did. my hubby got it. or a friend ran to the store for us. i was caregiver only. well and housekeeper. but everything else i had help with. is it possible for you to do that? i am hoping for the best for you. be as strong as you can and we're here to lean on when you need.
