Alright, so yesterday I was really depressed because I was worried about what would happen. I've been panic attack free for about 2 weeks now and I've been EXTREMELY happy about it for a while, but the last time this happened, it came back & really bad. I know it will come back because panic disorders don't just disappear forever for no reason. I can't get medication for it, and after seeing 3 theapists, phsychs are no help. I really scares me because come January, I'll be the only one left in my house to deal with my dad, my mom's b/f, my mom's stress & my dad's girlfriend. I will be in the most important school year & cannot screw up my grades, and have to be more involved in clubs (also dealing with social anxiety, that won't be very easy) On top of that, I am planning to go to Florida for a week, and Vegas for a week (maybe 2) and going to meet someone very VERY important to me there. I am extremely worried that panic disorder and social anxiety will ruin everything that I have to/am looking forward to doing. Is there any hope for me that I can get through this next year if I cannot be medicated/talked to by a phsych.?

why cant you get meds? do they think you are a drug addict?

No, thankfully. I cannot get meds because my parents think doctor's hand out those kinds of meds like candy and they can make you do crazy things (gain weight, make you sick, increase risks of suicide...) and it goes on and off, so if I did make a dr's appointment for it, it would go away for a while & make it kind of pointless.

I don't know what the laws are in your country, but here, if you go to the doctor and he prescribes a med, you can fill it without your parents' knowledge. The better alternative would be to educate them on the subject, of course.

Hi there
I would really try to explain this all to your parents and what all stresses you out and what is coming for you in the next yr

Most drugs have to have all kinds of warnings on them for legal reasons not that it will happen but in case...........

Yes I really believe educating them may help and you being on something as well as trying self help techniques such as relaxation, breathing ,Cognitve behavioural therapy ( free online one) and some books in HW resources may also benefit you

I hope all the best for you

Keep us posted please

J-Lynn,

Hello, I am Kitt.

I am sorry that you are in such a position.  1st of all as someone said you have the right to see a physician on your own in our country but I do not know your situation with your parents, insurance or other things that play into this scenario.

Do all four parents live with you and it sounds to me like perhaps you are feeling responsibile for adults that have issues?  Why don't you throw that thought away.  You can't change others and if they have issues, they own the problem.

Your doing a lot of traveling too and your into the anticipatory anxiety mode worrying about the what ifs?

If you look to the right on this post you will see a Resources box............take a look and see if there is a self help suggestion or site that may help you too.

Stay with us and keep posting. We are here for you.

Respectfully
Kitt
