I'm currently on zyprexa 5mgs a day as a mood stabiliser. I've read 5mgs is the starting dose, has anyone used it with their anti d's to help control the ruminating thoughts and balance themselves (I'm not bi-polar) just very anxiety prone and depressive. I'm seeing my pdoc tomorrow so would love some others findings before I go.

Good Morning,

For panic / anxiety - 2.5mg of Zyprexa a night should do it. However your at 5mg.  This is something you and your doctor will really have to work out.

I have no personal experience with the med but my reference, Mosby's 2004 Drug Guide

I am sure others will have more information for you.

Gentle Hugs

Respectfully

zyprexa is a so called atypical antipsychotic thats being heavily promoted as a magic cure for almost every psychiatric illness

it seems to have taken over from neurontin......

I have doubts about both

Thanks guys, mines not just for anxiety but depression and OCD thoughts as well. It was working ok, though I felt it may just needed to be tweaked a bit higher when I did a class at hospital yesterday that was so heavy I've just crashed down and the thoughts keep coming in.

I have been on Zyprexa for 4 weeks now and it has help me alot. Just like you I use it for bad anxiety which sets off depression and I also have panic attacks. I'm on 5 mgs which is what my doctor perscribe to me a I do go to a Psychiatrist and he said that was a good dose to start on. I not sure if I had't had the zyprexa added to my Zoloft I would be doing as well as I have been. Hope this helped you in someway.
