Hello...

I have had GAD for years and i've generally been able to keep it under control.  However, i've had a lot of stressors in my life lately, and even though things are looking up, I still feel myself not being able to calm down.  I saw an ad for Lexapro this morning and I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with it?  I would definitely only want it to be a temporary thing to kind of level me back out.  Any advice?

LOVED IT! When I first started it I was a mess and it changed my life for the better. I never had any problems with it and helped me within a couple weeks of starting it. My hubby even said it was the best thing that ever happeened to us. Talk with your doc about it and maybe give it a try! Start low and see how that works and you can always up it.

Welcome to Healing Well and the A & P forum.

Many of our members use Lexapro and it works well for them. I used it and it worked for a short time, however, drugs work different for each individual person.

I agree if your having problems that you should make an appointment to see your physician and see what advice you recieve re ADs.

I wish you peace and hope you are soon feeling better.

Respectfully
Kitt

Hi there. I am not sure if you have read any of my posts or not, but I have been on Lexapro 10 mg at bed time since June 26th. It has worked WONDERS for me. I was to the point of feeling like I was in one constant panic attack for about 3 months straight, and I became agoraphobic...where I couldn't leave my house, and I even lost my job. I felt like things would never get better for me.

Finally, I forced myself to go to the doctor, since I was tired of feeling so bad. He put me on Lexapro, like I said on June 26th. At first, I was still using Xanax pretty heavily, but now, nope, I haven't used Xanax in like 9 days...which is HUGE. I feel much more like myself, and I am getting out of the house DAILY. It is great.

Indeed, drugs work differently for everyone, this is true...I would though recommend you trying out LExapro, of course, if your doctor agrees. I feel like it saved my life!!!

I wish you all the best!
Dealing with panic and anxiety for 8 years off and on...right now more on than off.  Major health anxiety as well!

New found issues with agoraphobia...working on that too.

I am NOT weak, I am just down right now.  I am doing what it takes to get my life back!!!

Best Wishes to all...Tammy
