I'm going to doctor at 2:15 and am nervous. I don't think I could handle a colonoscopy or anything like that presently, but anywaay, maybe he can do blood tests and check me out otherwise. I am soooooooooo exhausted and feel soooooooooooo depressed. All I want to do is cry and hide. I just don't feel good at all. This is not helping my anxiety either. I started taking metamucil again last night (haven't taken it in years) and have been eating very carefully. I'm taking acidophilous as well.
I have a feeling that the doctor is not really going to know what to do about me. He'll probably say to lose weight (which I totally intend to do!) and maybe some blood tests to see where my blood sugar stands...
If I don't come out of this soon, I don't know how I'm gonna cope...

Dear Janet,

Just stay in the moment and go to the physicians when it is time. Don't try to guess what he will do or offer as that is anticipatory anxiety at it's worse.

You will get through this with help and support from all of the members of this wonderful forum.

We will be thinking of you and waiting for your return from the Doctor's  office.

Respectfully
Kitt

colonscopy: sucky prep cause you poop and poop and poop, nice nap, lots of gas, more napping when you get home, over all easier than getting a tooth pulled.

What MMMNAVY said! Try not to script out what your appointment will be like. It's the doc's job, not yours, to diagnose and treat you. Just tell him your problem and take it from there. Colonoscopy is really no big deal. If it turns out you need one, check in with the IBS board - lots of experience there in that area! :-)

I've had at least a dozen by now, so from a veteran, there is no need to worry. Yeah, the whole idea is embarrassing, but try to remember that the doc and his assistants do these every day. They are not going to freak out by anything they see or anything your body might do during the procedure. My sister has had two scopes, and like you, was extremely anxious about the procedure. Once she woke up, she told everyone that she'd go to "the b*tt place anytime" because she just floated on a cloud of serenity the whole day when it was over. LOL!

Hi,
My doc said he believes my IBS is being caused by my anxiety/stress. He gave me a prescription for Diphen/Atrop. I'm to take one a day for spastic pain.
I know that my mom having a broken ankle has put a lot more work on me and it can be stressful, but I was doing okay with it. It wasn't until my frequent bathroom runs that I started getting all worried and that was over the fear of being away from a bathroom! It's also an uncomfortable feeling. My depression and anxiety is worst in the early part of the day, but even though it lessens over the day, it's not until night that I feel halfway "normal" again!
He gave me a B-12 shot (his receptionist suggested it to me before he came in) at my request for my fatigue. I've been drinking water like it's going out of style cuz I'm thirsty, probably all the trips to the bathroom!
Oh well, thanks for all your kind words of support!
HUGS
