eyes  Nothing like living in a small town with a grocery store post office and a general store ...oh ya Pharmacy too lol that makes ya want to just pull your hair out .......go to the ER I have been there at least 15 times in last month because of IV medications and TX

My veins are no good I swear the Nurses CRINGE when I walk into the place knowing they have to "Put another bloody IV in this ole Babe"....BTW ........nothing worse than a  Retired RN or Nurse as a patient except perhaps a Doctor .......lol
Went 2 days ago they put in wrist .DUH..
I got on did a few threads ...blew that vein .....that was after it took them 8 tries to get it .....
I got lucky yesterday and got a nurse that use to do babies in Detroit so she was able to get me after 4 times ....in main vein in arm so typing not easy but I am trying .....

Kitt thanks hun for holding the fort down and Cowboy too and I hope this soon all ends or I will not have any hair ...already losing it from C meds .......

I am to be packed and moved by end of month to a more civilized city ,see no end to all this as how the Hades do you pack move furniture ( keep in mind Severe OCD) and move an hour away....Volunteers needed tongue

Oh well thats how my life is I guess lol ....hoping NO one knows me at the ER in that town
Sorry folks if I wasnt able to laugh I would be crying and losing it all by now believe me and I am a very strong person........takes alot to get to me and this DD and TX finally have

Anyone have some ER stories to share .......
Hoping funny or otherwise just to know I am not alone .......

Dear Big Sis

You should never ask a ER nurse about their sick sense of humor. lol.

These are some of my favorites from the ER :
-Discussing dismemberment over a meal seems perfectly normal
-You like to spend the holidays with your friends at work.
-You believe that a good tape job will fix anything.
-Your idea of a good time is a full arrest at shift change.
-You believe in a serial spraying of Prozac.
-You say to yourself "Great veins" as you pass by perfect strangers.
-You believe that "stupid" should be a diagnosis.
-You think caffeine should come in IV form.
-Your bladder expands to the size of a Winnebago's water tank.
-Your immune system is so well developed that it has been known to attack squirrels in the back yard
-You've held a 14 gauge needle over someone's vein and remarked "There's only going to be a little pain-this will only hurt for a second."
-You hope there's a special place in Hell for the inventor of the call light
-Your sense of humor seems more "warped" each year
-You think pizza, cookies, and a coke make a balanced meal
-You believe that saying "It can't get worse: causes it to get worse just to show you it can

-You have a recurring nightmare of being hit & run over by the portable x-ray machine
-You've  bet on someone's blood alcohol level
-You believe the ER waiting room should have a Valium salt lick
-You know it's a full moon without looking at the sky
-You believe not all patients are annoying, some are unconscious
-You can only tell time with a 24 hour clock.....
-You notice that you use more four letter words now than before you became a nurse
-You can intubate your friends at parties
-You don't get excited about blood unless it's your own
-You live by the motto, " to be right is only half the battle, to convince the physician is more difficult."
-You've told a confused patient your name was that of your coworker and to HOLLER if they need help

Smile ...........................Love you

Lil Sis

Foot note...........these are just jokes, ER nurses are truly devoted to their patients and we cry with  our patients and their families.

Respectfully
Kitt

Nope I did ER when first starting my career......
Changed to homecare than retirement and Nursing home
I love the seniors but always found I got to close ...ya know the drill
Did plenty of IV's too and when ya tell them ( nurse) where to go ( vein) and they still choose to pick you 6 more times and finally get it where YOU SAID that p***** me off to no end

I aint a picking on ER nurses ...( okay maybe a bit ) but I sure dont like walking in door and having them all run n hide and yes I bet some have told me the name of another nurse lol and yes ON PURPOSE.......

I DO SO wish they had a Valium Salt Lick stick on way in ....HEY I would or could get STUCK to that EH lol

Loving ya lots and funning with ya I knows ya are an Retired ER nurse...........
Ha ha

Big Sis

If you walked into our ER I would just pick up phone and call anesthesia and say "Guess Who Is Here?"  I would just have the experts do your IV's.

I agree with you as I have been the patient in my own ER and it is no fun. I always did like putting in the big IV's thow..............hee hee

I will give you a story later about ER snafus.

Love ya

Lil Sis

Mom...IF I have my geography correct and I THINK I do...MN is south west of you I am south east...tho MN might be slightly closer as I believe they are further north than I I'm not sure...Closest state to you is I think Michigan at about an hour and a half drive south west from your new place will prolly be more like 2 and a half...

Only stories I have of ER is when I was between 2 and 4 I tripped on own 2 feet and put top teeth through bottom lip and freaked my mom out something awful and when I was 11 I broke my arm the day before Halloween and spent about 7 painful hours in ER till they would give me any kinda pain killer and then they did it by sticking a needle in my bum...talk about trauma...and btw x ray people are not gentle broke both bones in fore arm and they moved my arm around like it was nothing OUCH!...Not so ER note arm was set slipped and had to go back in and have wires out in and removed...3 times under general anastesia for 1 arm at age 11 and I wonder why I avoid docs like the plague...
