I am terrified I have this disease. My entire area where that area is is tender to the touch. But I also cannot keep myself from constantly pushing on my abdomen. I am stressed out I cannot go to sleep and it is 2:40 and I have to get up in just over 3 hours to get ready for work. I need some reassurance that I do not have this. I am freaking out.

  Hi there

I edited your post AS many on this forum have Health Anxiety and this could lead to more fears or concerns not necessarily needed for them .......

** I do hope you see why At Wits End that it was edited **

Any questions email me PLEASE and I will go into further detail ............

Dear At Wits End

If you feel that you are this ill then you may want to see your physician.

Have you ever been told by a Doctor that your type of anxiety may be health anxiety.  You are assuming the worse regarding your symptoms and researching all the really bad things it could be.  The more you read the more anxious you get and pretty soon your caught up in a vicious circle.

Peritonitis is usually caused by an infection spreading from an infected organ in the abdominal cavity. Common sources are perforations of the stomach, intestine, gallbladder, or appendix. Infection can also spread to the peritoneum from other parts of the body through the blood. The peritoneum (the membrane that lines the abdominal cavity and organs) is remarkably resistant to infection. Unless contamination continues, peritonitis does not progress, and the peritoneum tends to heal with treatment

If you read every article on this topic you will find all kinds of scary causes.  So please consult a physician if you need as I am not an expert and I  do not diagnosis. :)

Please take care as I am very concerned about you. (((HUGS))))

I went through this very spell back in January not only thinking this but constantly reading symptoms of other horrid things as well. I do not feel that bad and have had no fever and can go to the bathroom ok but I get in these bad panicky states where I think I have everything and of course I am probably not helping things by constantly poking at myself which is enough to make my gut sore. I had such bad side and back spasms last night trying to get to sleep I ended up getting up and popping half a Xanax and got about two and a half hours sleep. I definitely feel this was a major panic attack, no doubt. I laid there from 11:30 until around 3:15 before I could relax and go to sleep. I ended up sleeping the rest of the night on a heating pad behind my back. I just literally think I am going nuts. There is no reason to assume just because I have problem with getting rid of gas occasionally that I have that. I have just scared myself to death with that and that is the problem with being alone at night until 11:30. I went through this same thing 7 months ago looking up all of that stuff and scaring myself to death. I have just scared myself so bad I've become obsessed with things. I definitely need to get a grip. I do not feel bad this morning, other than can barely keep my eyes open. And I am sure things like that are rare to develop. That is where my what if thinking comes in and that is what makes me panic.

Thanks for understanding. It's just that I felt good all day yesterday until about an hour or so before bedtime and then the side and back spasms started and it seemed gas in nature but now I'm not so sure. I have got to get a grip.
