Hi,
I didn't know where to put this thread, so I give it here. I'd like to find out about some pretty important for me thing. Namely, I've 2 things - especially one but the 2nd thing sometimes obsesses me as well - which could pretty well be named as obsessive thoughts. They refer to some stuff which I'm not able to get - so the best option would be to get rid of them, as they're senseless and ineffective.

Is the 20 mg dose of paroxetine (I'm still hesitating, but the dr has suggested me it; I know about some pretty good treatment effects in some people, sometimes astonishing; on the other hand, I know that the withdrawal of it could be pretty hard - but fluoxetine/Prozac is known to minimize it) able to cure me of some sort of an obsessive thoughts? I want it so much.

I believe that it's possible, let me know if any of you had similar problem and if had got rid of it.

Cheers to you.

Good Morning

Paxil: for OCD

The  ususal starting dose is 20 mgs a day, typically taken in the morning. At intervals of at least 1 week, your Doctor may increase the dosage by 10 mgs a day.  The recommended long-term dosage is 40 mgs daily. The maximum is 60 mgs a day.

Thanks, Stkitt. :)

Well, I know that the med doses for OCD are rather higher than the anxiety/depression ones, but I just wondered if such a little dose of 20 mg could be effective as well in my case - I'm not sure if it's exactly OCD in me, it's only obsessive thoughts, which are not constant, but they do disturb me. They don't lead to any compulsions, by the way.

I also wouldn't like to put in me even more quantities of meds, as I get pretty much antiinflammatory & immunosuppressive drugs, due to my U. Colitis. sad

These thoughts aren't good, as they relate to either a thing which is beyond reach of mine, or to a thing which I've simply lost - so they can't be constructive and can be only harmful. It's not important what they're exactly, I'd like rather not to tell about them. It's not worth.

Cheers :)

I would start out at low dose and see how it works and if you need to the med can be increased.  I agree if you can get buy on low dose it is better.

Take care and I will be here for you. yeah
