Well I decided I would no longer put up with being unhappy as a result of my constant state of jitter and startle. I had my much awaited appt. with my Pdoc today :)  He told me I could stop taking the buspar my reg doc gave me and put me back on zoloft. He told me to take klonopin 2xs a day for a month or two though. This part made me a littler nervous as I was taking ativan on my bad days only. He said ativan is in the same family as klonopin but is shorter acting and klonopin should help me for up to 8 hours at a time. He said to try not and feel bashful or give into the stigma of that type of drug. I know from my experience with ativan that I have had nothing but positive results in my mood and behavior so maybe this is a good thing? Anyone out there happy with klonopin? I know its going to take quite some time for the zoloft to work on me due to having been through this in the past, it took 3 months or so, so I am so pleased he put me on something to help me stay calm while I wait for the zoloft to work.

Good Evening and hurrah for you.  I am glad you had success at your physician appointment.  I have used the Ativan and Klonopin. I used a large dose of Ativan at bed time............4mg.  I am weaning off or at least down to the lowest dose on the benzos after using one of these meds for 24 years. I am currently using the Valium as it is the benzo with the longest 1/2 life and I can decrease my use very slowly.  IMHO they all work well and it depends on what kind of coverage you are looking for. :)

Your physician is correct, take care of you and do not worry about any stigma that goes along with our disorders or the meds we need to stay well.

If you were a diabetic you would not be scrutinized for the use of insulin.

I am proud of you for being assertive in taking care of you. Hugs to you.

I totaly agree with Kitt and I also am very happy your doc appointment went well for you
yes as you know it takes time for the med to kick in so the Klonies will help with your A/P till then.........

I would not let the " stigma" bother me either and I think your doc is really great for telling you and reassurring you not to let it get to you either..........

Plz do keep us posted on how you are doing ........

I've just been restarted on my zoloft 200mgs a day and had my klonopin put up to 2mgs twice daily. I've been in hospital for 7 weeks so all I want is for it to work and give me a normal life again.
