Got back from dr. today. Gonna try Paxil, Klonopin and Xanax. Still have to see a therapist tomorrow. Now if I could find  dr. to take my intense pain seriously. I like it here, I think I'll stay. Thanks everyone.

Not sure why he Rx Kolonpin and Xanax. I woulnt take the xanax for long, maybe a few days until the Kolonpin gets in your system. Just remeber with the Paxil it will take a few weeks to work.

The Paxil worked for me, but I didnt like the side effects (mainly the sexual ones). Lexapro was next, better but still not great (lot of weight gain). Effexor now, so far so good, side effects are not as extreme, and I've actual lost weight so far.

The point is there are may different ones, Paxils a good start, but take note of the effects and switch if there bad. Find a good pdoc/therepist to work on behavior, its important and to often the last thing we try !!

The xanax is probably for the adjustment to paxil, and current panic. Thats what i would be guessing. He probably said to use the xanax if you have a full blown attack. I'm just assuming that. My doc has done similar things, it doesnt seem unusual to me.

And about side effects, some do go away or lessen over time. Actually a lot do. Most complaints are sexual side effects, and weight gain. But at first you might feel a lot of side effects. Give it some time for you body to adjust.

Keep us posted!

I have been on the Paxil for about a year now. It took the place of Zoloft due to insurance issues. I was doing fine but then something just snapped. He told me the Klonopin was to take the calm me a bit but to only use the Xanax at the first sign of a panic attack. Years ago I had a bad drug problem so I'm going to try to limit the Xanax to when I really need it. I do the same with my pain medications. My children are too important to me to allow myself to slide back to another addiction. Maybe the therapist can help me out on all of that tomorrow.

Good Morning and I too wish you good luck today, your first visit to the therapist.  The first appointment is usually a lot of intake of info by therapist.

Just knowing you have a therapist should bring you some comfort.

Gentle Hugs
