hi all,
i usually hang out on the colitis forum, but i have a real problem with anxiety, so i thought i would post here. in any case, i have medical issues (see sig) and i am pretty much the first person all this has happened to. other people have one of these things, but no one seems to have them ALL. my GI doctor loves me because i am like a medical experiment. in any case, it makes me feel like i am going to die in just a few years. i know that sounds dramatic, but being the first in a medical problem makes one feel that way. at least it makes me feel that way. my doctor doesn't seem to disagree. i' scared and panicked all the time...any help?

Dear Katie

Hugs to you and I think you have a right to your fear.I hope this helps.

My hubby was having lots of abdominal pain, the physician called with results of his test and wanted to see him right away.  We had 4  children so I could not go to the clinic.  He called me and said he had to have an emergency appy.

My in-laws came over to stay with kids and I met my hubby at the hospital. Now we were ok as it was not a major deal so off he went to surgery. 6 hours later and many visits from the nurses telling me they ran into a little problem the surgeon came to see me.  He told me my husband had Crohns and it was the first case he had ever seen. The doctor siaid it is very serious and like cancer but not cancer. The nurses had never heard of it either.  I spent the night in the hallway being allowed to see my husband once every 2 hours.

Like you I was sure we had just been handed a death sentence. That was 31 years ago. :) He has had 3 major surgeries but inbetween he has done very well.

I hope this helps you. Please take our hands and we will hold on tight to you.

Respectfully
Kitt
