I just weened myself off of Lexapro and I can not tell you how much better I feel....I sleep a million times better...no longer have alcohol cravings and my labito is back to where it was before which makes me very happy. So many people tell me how much better I look too. ALSO I havent needed my Ativan in two days...I honestly feel NORMAL again. YAY! I understand that many many people find luck with this drug but as a result of my experience with Lexapro I can not stress enough the importance of finding the right drug. If you see any negative changes in yourself...as I so painfully did with the lexapro...please please dont take it lightly and talk to your doctor. Just wanted to throw this out there in case anyone is experiencing negative side effects with Lexapro. I SWEAR i am so much better!! Have lost a few pounds too!

I tried to take Lexapro---it didn't work for me---I had weird side effects: hallucinations, claustrophia, crying tons, etc..... It was BAD! I kept telling myself---it's not 4 weeks yet, it's not 4 weeks yet.....but, I took myself off of Lexipro after a couple weeks---b/c I thought those side-effects were 'over the top'!

everyone is different----

But, I agree----find the right medication for you! If you think something isn't working--talk w/ your MD!!!

I am happy for you I really am BUT I do empathise that when coming off meds like this a Doctor should be involved with the TX and withdrawl program ya know.....even the weening part......Just my opinion......

Did you go at this alone or with a doc ??

In any case you are right some ppl do have adverse reactions but they are few and far between so we dont want to scare anyone from this med ......the ativan is also a great benzo for those that do need it

THANKS for sharing your victory..............** should be in the " you know you are beating Panic disorder when..........."Thread...........

Kudos to you

Thank You. I completely agree that Lexapro works for many..but I just wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone because I wish I heard the potential side effects before I started it again...especially the alcohol one since alcoholism in rampant in my family.I knew how to ween off it from the last time I went off of it. Ativan is good but not the way I took it. Anything you become dependent on is not good for YOU...came to that realization in my dads AA meetings that i went to him with. In my personal opinion...if there is addiction issues in your family like mine I wouldnt recommend the benzos. Saw myself going downhill on that stuff.

Kudos to you Superanxious.  I too am happy to hear you went to the AA meeting.

I hope if your problems return you will seek out your physician as perhaps therapy would be a better choice for you as the med did not work for you.

I wish you peace and happiness.

Gentle Hugs
