For those of you that read my previous posts, my a/p started to kick up bigtime after going off lexapro in march. When work started to become stressful and it kicked into daily anxiety. After finally deciding just taking drugs isnt the answer. I was able to get to a pd.
With the combiniation of the effexor and the pd. I am on the road to learning to contol the a/p. My doc is healping me to train my brain to deal with the issues. I was able to go on an interview and get the job! Its a great opportunity and very exciting for me. I feel the anxiety lifting away as that issue is being resoved. And I know that it has a large part to do with the help the docs been giving me. It's simple things like questioning why I feel anxious and reminding myself that reality is much different than my perceptions! One day I want to be off the effexor and dealing with the issues myself. I know I can get there with the help of my pd and things like this board.
Just keep at it! If at all possible, find a good pd to help. Keep talking about the issue, question your doctors about meds, and keep fighting the fight. We can all overcome this! It's not easy, some times will be bad, but stay positive and focused, and you can manage the issues!
Thanks to everyone here for all the support! I know Ill need more in the future 2 :)
Dx: Panic Disorder
Also have: GAD & social anxiety
Rx:75mg EffexorXr 2x a day, 8am & 3pm.
.5mg Klonopin @ night if anxious (very infrequent right now)
My advice: Find and a good pdoc! One with alot of experience in treating p/a and uses CBT. There's no shame in going to an expert, most MD's are good, but are just to busy to heal this disease!
